Carpet Burns Empty Carpet Burns

Post  Haggis Fri Jul 29, 2011 10:05 pm

Haggis knew he shouldn't be doing this. It was screaming in every crevice of his mind not to do this. Except for that one section that overpowered them all screaming, 'Yes go ahead and do it!'. Why he was listening to that certain part of his mind, he didn't really know. Taking in a deep breath, Haggis backed further into the corridors, staring at a certain spot of lush blue carpet. There wasn't much on the stony floor, but there was just enough for his idea to possibly work.

He started running forward, picking up a good amount of momentum. He prepared to jump on the carpet, hoping that his prediction was right. If it was, he would either go sliding down the corridor or gather up a fair amount of static electricity. Before Haggis could move any further, footsteps sounded down further in the corridor. He dug his heels into the floor, coming to a screeching halt just before the carpet, resulting in his feet getting caught on it. With a startled help he fell face first into the lush substance, and the footsteps came closer.

Carpet Burns Empty Re: Carpet Burns

Post  Everly Mon Aug 01, 2011 9:00 am

The headmistress had been hurrying down the halls to her own quarters. Her latest encounter with the harpy professor had left her rather unsettled, and she needed some time alone to think things over. As was usual, Everly walked tall, her shoulders low and back, almost like a dancer. Her mind was was busy mulling over everything that had been going on for the past few months; Kale and Valentin's arrival, all the new teachers and students that had come to live with her, the intruder's menacing presence on the island. Her blue eyes faced forward, but her thoughts were so inward that she hardly noticed her surroundings.

But just as she was about to pass an intersection of corridors, she heard a large thump that jolted her back to the moment. Her pupils regained focus and her head turned quickly to the side. Then she saw what must have been the source; further down the corridor there seemed to be a lump of a person face-first in the middle of the carpeted floor. Unsure of who it was, the headmistress decided to remain where she stood rather than stepping closer. She faced them, her hands folded neatly in front of herself.

"Hello?" she called, her voice pleasant. "Are you alright?"

((hope you don't mind. ^^))
