Whisked Away

[Audi]

It was very early in the morning, not long after dawn. A rather miserable-looking pile of rags and grayish brown fur was sat in the middle of the corridor, where it was abandoned around half an hour ago already. The strange man that brought her here disappeared in a hurry, saying he would help her later. Help her with what? Audi wasn't sure. He was nice, but he talked on and on and on, and she found herself examining his shoelaces instead of listening.
What was he talking about? Something about learning and safety. That much she knew. And it was enough for her to come with him. She hasn't come to regret it yet - at least it was warm in here.

But now she didn't know what to do, clutching her few possessions in her hands, her fur rising on its ends out of anxiety. She had to get moving. Maybe find something to eat...?
That thought finally managed to get her to raise her rump off the floor. To be able to run faster, in case something happened, she stayed on all fours, putting the bundle of her personal belongings between her teeth. Carefully she paced towards the opposite wall, and started walking alongside it, her left side brushing against it - that way, nothing could attack her from the side that she always saw blurry.
Audi had no clue what was going on, but her stomach was rumbling, and so she mustered all her determination and marched off into the unknown.

Being desensitized to smells, she wasn't aware just how much the garbage she lived in stuck with her. It wasn't that bad when she was outside; now, the stench of food rotten beyond recognition filled the corridor, so thick it almost formed a visible cloud around the rat's small silhouette.

Aisling was wandering quietly around the corridors, when she suddenly smelled something. at first she feared that she'd accidentally run into a few of the Lost Souls that so often hunted her dreams. however, she soon realized that what she was smelling wasn't that of rotting spirits--nope, it was just plain rotting garbage. she was rather relieved about this, but she was also wondering what in the world was causing it in a place like this.

She turned the corner, she spotted a--rat? she blinked, confused. she'd only seen a few people here at the academy, and even fewer that were mixed with some kind of animal. most of those, however, had an extreme human resemblance, or some other form. but as Aisling looked at this particular student--she assumed her so--through the planes, she soon learned that this particular character did not have a human form.

now, as for the fact that Aisling could tell she was female...well, there were the planes for that, as they made it very easy to tell the gender of someone, and whether they have a particular ability if their energy is strong enough. however, there was a way that she moved that was feminine in some way or another

"ehm...hello?" she asked nervously in her ghostly, scottish accent. meeting new people could sometimes get so hairy. some people did not get along very well with ghosts

At the figure suddenly appearing in front of her, Audi jumped back a bit and opened her mouth to show her sharp yellowish teeth, the bundle falling to the floor. But... this human...

Forgetting her cautiousness, she sat up and stared at the girl. She blinked a few times, then swiveled her head to the left to look with one eye, then turned it again to look with the other. And again. And again. No, the human's unclear shape wasn't due to her bad sight... At the greeting, Audi flicked her ears in acknowledgement. The weird human wasn't hostile. Not that she cared at that point. With two smooth, squirrel-like big leaps, she approached the girl and sat up again right in front of her. Maybe a bit too close for comfort. With a look that seemed almost hypnotized, she raised her hand, fingers pressed together, then in a rapid movement aimed a poke at the human's translucent stomach. It wasn't strong enough to hurt, but if the receiving end wasn't as incorporeal as she looked, it would elicit an 'oof' for sure.

Aisling was caught off-guard by the rat's reaction, though her attempt to poke the ghost girl wasn't an uncommon one. she winced from a mix of an old, knee-jerk reaction, and the fact that it just felt...wrong. it SHOULD hurt for someone's fingers to go right through you, but when you're dead, it just doesn't. that is, unless its a ghost that does the poking. at one point in her death, a soccer ball had gone straight through her stomach, and the resulting discomfort had made aisling feel like she might throw up. however, being as she didn't eat, that would be a bit impossible.

"ehehe...being dead kind of limits contact, huh? ehmm...i'm Aisling, by the way." her nervous giggle had souned a bit odd, but she still was inexperienced in stricking up a conversation after being proven that she was dead. some first meetings could be rather entertaining, though

Audi twitched her whiskers as she examined her hand. She stretched her fingers and clapped her hands together to check if they didn't, somehow, contract the untouchabilityness. Ess. The hand apparently remained unchanged. Fascinating. She batted at the girl again with her other hand, attempting to wave it inside the girl's silhouette. She was far from done.

Her tail swished back and forth on the floor. She was too preoccupied with the fact that she could see the opposite wall through the misty human to notice her talk. Funny how those bricks looked, tinted a different color. Wonder what would it be like if her head was...?
Without thinking further, the rat bobbed her head forwards to dip it into Aisling.

"gyah!' Aisling yelped at the sickening feeling in her stomach when Audi's head went through her. without stopping to think, she shoved herself upwards until her head was just below the ceiling.

"whew, definitely one of the more interesting confrontations!" she rubbed her stomach. jeeze, that had felt just....wrong. interesting, but completely strange.

"er, sorry to interrupt your curiosity, there, but i'm not really sure if a ghost can throw up or not after having a head in her stomach, and i'd prefer not to discover that one in front of someone."

she bobbed nervously in the air, not really sure how to approach the strange rat-girl. she was all for curiosity, but maybe a little warning...

'hmm.." she flipped around so that it was now her feet seeming to float based off the ceiling rather than the floor--she hung upside down, causing her hair to act as though it were in water while upside down. this time, it was aisling trying to get a better look at audi. though, the distortion of view didn't make it very easy...

For a split second, Audi saw an Aisling colored world. Before she could get a better look, though, the human disappeared, and Audi wondered if she had made that happen. Somehow. Maybe ghosts don't like being headbutted. But no, there was a voice speaking from... the ceiling?!

The rat looked up so rapidly, the movement caused her to dangerously sway backwards. Her mouth formed an 'o' as she stared at the figure. And now it was standing upside down? Audi flopped down to the floor, her eyes still glued to the human. The patchwork cape she was wearing spread out around her in a half-circle. At first sight, it looked just like a pile of rags, and when one looked a second time... it still did. But that was actually part of the design. It was lined with a pillow cover and pieces of sheep skin, plush, and parts of a scarf filled in the spaces between the rigid carpet patches that served as the outside layer.
Audi watched the hair floating around with amazement. This human was so cool.

She rose to her feet and waved her hand in the air, as if she could reach the silhouette below the ceiling.
"You're flying!" she uttered right before springing up from the spot to jump and try to reach the see-through girl.

"i'm actually floating....if i could fly, that would make my life--er, i mean death--a lot more interesting."

Aisling was still hanging upside down, watching with interest as Audi attempted to jump and bat at her...hair?
"you know, i dont' think i caught your name..."

Audi seemed like a very curious type of person...and maybe a little ADD positive. nothing wrong with that, though she wondered if she would ever get her to stay on one topic

Audi bounced a few more times. Her hind legs were strong, but the ceiling was very high and all she could do was wave her hands just barely touching the hair.
Finally, she gave up and flopped down again, a bit winded. Gaze still locked on the girl, she tilted her head a bit, the spoken words reaching her for once.
"Audi." she said, tracing the silhouette with her eyes. Considering that enough explanation, the rat got up again and started pacing in circles below the human, her head fixed in place as she stared up. She wanted to get a better look!
"Come down?"

"Audi. that's a pretty name." Aisling gave Audi an upside-down grin. "will you promise not to headbutt my stomach again if i come down?" she asked. she figured Audi would ask questions and such--and that was fine, by all means--just as long as she didn't have to feel like she was going to puke ecto-plasm....whether or not that was even possible. she flipped around so that she wasn't standing on the ceiling any more, and "sat" with her legs crossed while in the air

Audi nodded once. "Okay."
No headbutting didn't mean no touching, right? She could still check if every bit of the human was as incorporeal as the stomach, right? Audi would very much want to believe it, but as much as she tried, she couldn't. The human probably didn't want to be touched at all. She saddened a bit, her whiskers drooping as she finally stopped walking in circles below the girl. Why were humans so... adverse to being touched? It was the basis for everything; for getting to know each other, for building trust, for entertainment. Humans were all about talking, they could stand around for hours and just babble on like starlings in a tree squabbling over cherries. Audi found it really silly. Still, she looked to the girl expectantly. If she really preferred to talk, maybe the rat would oblige.

Aisling gave Audi a thankful smile before quietly dropping to the floor--or, rather, stopping just an inch above, as she still had to float, rather than walk. she smiled brightly. "so, would you like to start with the questions, or should i?" she giggled lightly. she was pretty sure that she did not have as many questions for Audi as the rat girl did for her. either way, she did have a few...like how she had turned up at the academy. still, she figured she should try and satisfy Audi's curiosity first...after all, she had denied the poor girl the right to...eh...shove her head into her ghostly stomach.

Audi stared. Then she blinked. Then she tilted her head to almost 90 degrees. Was the girl granting her the opportunity to talk first? In her experience, it was the humans that talked first, and then they didn't even expect an answer, rather just... the fulfillment of whatever order they had just given. Maybe it was different with transparent humans. She didn't look like the ordering kind.
Well, there was one very important question nagging at Audi.... After that the girl could ask all of hers.
The rat perked up her ears and shuddered slightly as she straightened out her head, then looked right at Aisling.
"Food?"

"oh-" she face palmed herself lightly- "you just got here, of course you're hungry....jeeze i dont' even think about that stuff anymore...," she shook her head, chastising herself at her rudeness. "come on, the dinning hall is this way."

Audi actually wasn't far from the dinning hall at all. they were in the hallway just a little north of the main vestibule--walking a little farther, they would meet the dinning hall, then the kitchens, and then the breakfast room. in fact, Aisling wondered if the castle had been set up this way so that newcomers could find food before they got lost and starved. after all, the castle was huge; Aisling was able to find her way around because 1. she was a ghost and could float through a few walls if she got lost
2. using the planes to see kinda helped and,
3. she and chayne had gone on a discovery hunt throughout the castle on their first night

Aisling began floating at a fair pace down the coridor, motioning for Audi to follow. she would adjust her pace the match Audi's as they walked.

(is it breakfast, lunch, or dinner, haha?)

Audi nodded energetically at the girl's words. Hastily, she leaned down to pick up her bundle and held it in her hands as she followed. There was no need for caution anymore, since there was a human with her now, she seemed kinda nice, and she promised food. Taking all that into account, Audi would follow her to the end of the world. She walked after her out of respect, slowing down if Aisling did to remain a few paces behind.

((Breakfast! :'D for the amount of food she is going to want, though, I think kitchen is the best destination xD))

Aisling nodded energetically to Audi as they floated down the hallway. she was trying to work out a plan in her head...it was breakfast time, right? she was pretty sure, at least. still, Audi looked...very hungry. she chewed her lip for a moment, her eyes drifting down the hallway. from here, she could already see down to the end. there was the main dinning hall, and the the breakfast room at the very end. however, the kitchens were located just through the breakfast room...

she turned to Audi with a little smile. "instead of using the breakfast room, how about going straight for the kitchens? its like cutting out the middle man--more food, less time." the look she was giving Audi was one that was almost friendly, mischievous conspiracy

She nodded energetically, a wide smile stretching her face. She wasn't sure what did the girl mean, or what a breakfast room exactly was, but as long as the plan meant getting to the food faster, she was all for it.
