From the way Owen was walking down those halls, one could assume that he didn't seem to have any sort of direction in life. He was like some sort of ghost mindlessly drifting along, his expression distant, his pace listless. Had Jami attempted communication with him, it would've be like talking to a wall.

Nobody passed them by in the corridors. Maybe it was just a quiet hour, or maybe nobody needed to go the same way as them. But no people = no help. That in itself was a cause for despair.

Despite being apparently familiar with the layout of the academy, he would often walk into dead ends, staring at them blankly before turning to try somewhere else. Whilst carrying Jami along the corridors, arms supporting her back and her legs, he found that his grip would frequently slip, but he would readjust himself shortly.

Somehow, he managed to reach the north foyer, where stairs up the the 3rd storey were presented before him. With a resigned groan, he steadily started to venture upwards. Each step was struggle, and it wasn't long before his breathing turned to wheezing gasps. By the time he reached the top of the flight, he was completely drained. And he still had one more to go.

He started to take a step up, before he seemed to give up, carefully setting Jami down to the side, before allowing himself to sink down onto one of the steps. Was Jami even awake? Or was she dea-- DON'T. He buried half of his face into his right hand. He really was a failure.

Jami wasn't really sure where they were going, all she knew was that it was a long time before Owen pt her down. She had drifted in and out of conscience multiple times but tried her best to stay away. The bleeding had basically stopped but when she would be moved to be held better, it would start up again a bit. She hadn't spoken for a while and if she had it was most likely in her sleep or incoherent mumbles.

Jami was only vaguely aware of the steps as the bumping must have been caused by the incline. By the time she was placed down she had fallen asleep again.

Owen sighed to himself. Her silence was not reassuring. No, it was worse than that. Every second that stretched only added to his gnawing suspicion of--- Given the circumstances, it was an unavoidable thought, and he found himself cringing every time it came to mind.

He looked to her again. Her eyes were shut. Pleasedontbepleasedontbe--- No. Deep breaths. But it wasn't helping, just lounging around here on the stairs. He just needed to get his breath back.

He reached out an arm, tapping his claw urgently on her shoulder. "W...w..." Damnit voice, don't screw up on me now. "W..ake.." Just a sign of life would do.

The nudge stirred Jami a bit and she slowly opened her eyes to look towards Owen. In her grogginess he smiled a bit. Turning towards him she realized how out out of it she had been. A gasp escaped her lips and she fell back on her back. Her hands scrambled to try and get the hoodie off. She wanted to see how bad it was, right now.

Looking around she saw there was a wall on the other side and she tried to get her legs to push herself towards it. Remembering Owen was there she looked towards him and made a gesture for him to come next to her. She took a hand and slipped it up her shirt. Prodding the wound she could tell the damage was going to be annoying to fix. The actions she had done though made her a bit dizzy, she was rushing to fast. Her blood needed time to refill.

Looking up at Owen she tried to speak in a soft voice, "Can you hold me... I'm cold." Fire would have been nice right now, but she was to weak to congure much more than a spark.

The relief that Owen felt at that moment was indescribable. She was awake. Alive. Yet, lingering doubts always pecked at him, questioning how long such things would even last. It was all so fragile.

Why was she taking the hoodie off...? He was going to reach out to halt her, but felt too numb to do so. Instead, the best he could do was merely scrape it off the stair next to her. He looked over it... the blood stains were pretty thick.... And it wasn't like he had any money to buy a new one either.

Again, Owen found himself blinking dumbly at her... Hold... her? He moved forward slowly and hesitantly towards her, still holding the hoodie. "..." Raising it, he flopped it over her shoulders, as if it were some sort of blanket - the concept of wearing it as clothing apparently escaping him. It was warm, at least.... He stared, stupefied, unable to think of what to do. Or, for that matter, unable to think.

Jami coughed up a bit as the hoodie was being placed back on her. Close enough, Owen probably was out of it as much as she was. It was warm, but wet, and liquid became cold. She spat out some of the blood in her mouth on the floor next to her. It was going to be annoying to fix up later. Sleep would have been lovely, but she was afraid if she slept to long she wouldn't wake up.

There wasn't any point really in trying to talk to Owen. He wouldn't understand most likely. She still wanted to remind him she loved him, but last time she had tried he didn't really notice. Jami closed her eyes and let her head roll to the side.

Post  Leon Barner Sat Feb 18, 2012 12:21 am

Leon had first gone up to the infirmary. He didn't think Owen had had enough time to reach the infirmary, or that he'd even be able to make it up the two flights of stairs. Who's idea had it been to put the infirmary on the third floor anyway? It was rather inconvenient.

Too impatient to wait, Leon left the infirmary and followed the shortest path back to the dining hall. Somehow he hadn't passed Owen on this path though. He mentally cursed himself for relying on Owen. What had brought him to do that anyway? Owen had to be the least reliable person he knew.

Before reaching the dining hall, however, Leon came across a few splotches of blood on the floor. Looking down the corridor, he noticed similar splotches further down the hall. He grew by the moment as he followed them. It seemed Owen had taken the most taciturn route imaginable to get to the infirmary. What an idiot.

Finally the trail led him to a flight of stairs and he saw the two sitting at the top. After climbing the stairs he saw the two sitting at the top and shot Owen an angry glance. What an idiot. Was there anything Owen could get right??

He didn't say anything but moved to stand beside Jami. The injury looked bad, and Owen was wasting time sitting around. He pushed his next thought out of mind. Honestly it was getting old, repetitive even.

When Jami coughed again, Owen immediately took it as a sign that he'd done something wrong. His hands flinched backwards away from her, not wanting to make anything worse. He was certainly no medical expert, but now, he desperately wanted to be. Although he did know some extreme basics - it would be hard not to, given the amount of medical attention he'd received in his lifetime.

When she closed her eyes, his panic renewed. "D-don't...!" He was going to give her shoulder another nudge before he noticed that another figure was approaching them. He turned his head slowly, his eyes widening desperately. Yes, he'd needed help, but not Leon, anyone but Leon.

He shrank away from them, looking off to the side. "Didn't... ask for..." he whispered, his voice ebbing away. His head hung in a guilty manner, unwilling to make eye contact at all. Leon probably thought he was slacking off, which might've been true. But he was so exhausted... Wasn't he allowed to rest?

As she heard a voice of protest Jami wished she could keep her eyes open, but there was just so much comfort in keeping them closed. It was nicer. Maybe it would take her away from all of this. Footsteps were heard brought her half aware mind. Help, some one had come? Owen didn't seem to happy about who it was. She slowly peeked her eyes open, who was there?

Leon? That was very... Responsible for him to come looking for them. In a way it made jami feel like her big brother was comic to save the day, but she felt like Owen and Leon would fight anoint it later anyway. It was a shame, but right now jami wanted to get onto a cot and some mointored sleep. If she could get prooer rest maybe she could think better and start healing herself much faster. Hopefuls in the morning if she was lucky.

A thought strayed to Owen, her love. She wanted to know what was going on in his mind. Did he feel scared, confused? What else was there? He seemed completely messed up. More things for her to fix... Herself his appearance and now his mental stability were on her list.

Leon flicked a hand at Owen as he began to speak to him. Leon didn't want to hear his voice right now, or see his face for that matter. He kneeled beside Jami, putting a gentle hand on her shoulder. He wanted to get a better look at the wound. It still looked like it was bleeding. Why had she taken the knife out? Wasn't she supposed to know how this stuff worked?

Oddly enough, Leon wasn't used to dealing with blood. Possessing angels was a bloodless job after all. He knew she would bleed out if she didn't get to the infirmary though. He didn't look back up at Owen as he spoke, but it was obvious Leon was speaking to him. "When you're done being useless, I guess I'll see you at the infirmary." Now he looked up at the other boy, pure spite leaking into his voice. "Provided you can find your way that is."

Leon brought one hand behind Jami's knees and the other behind shoulders before attempting to lift her in the same manner Owen had. She was lighter than he would have expected her to be. That must have made it easier for her to fly. Actually, it probably would have been easier to fly with her than to walk on foot. Unfortunately, there wasn't nearly enough space in the corridors for that. He could be as reckless as he'd been when he'd chased Henry.

He wasn't even looking at them, but Owen knew that Leon was doing exactly what he should've been doing. And although he didn't doubt for one moment that Leon knew what he was doing (at least moreso than he did), he just hated having them so... close. They'd been fighting weeks before.

"..." He blinked away as Leon spoke, trying not to let it show that his words bothered him at all. It was merely the salt on the wounds that Owen expected from him, and although he probably should've been used to it, it stung. Useless. That was right.

He remained sitting where he was, staring off, as if in a daze. There wasn't anything he could really do to help, after all. But no, he would catch up later... when he summoned the willpower to move, that is.

Jami frowned as Leon spoke to Owen the way he had. She didn't blame Owen for not helping. Something had gone wrong in his mind, it wasn't his fault. Her eyes widened as she felt arm under her attain. She moved her eyes from Owen to Leon. He was talking her then? Maybe it was for the best. She looked at Owen again as she was lifted and wanted to reach a hand out so bad. Why wasn't he coming with them?

A hand instead Jami moved to her back. She pulled the hoodie out between her and Leon's arm with some weak struggle. When she managed to put it on top of herself she held it down on her wound again In case it started bleeding again. She was sure by now her blood would have clotted enough to not conintue to leave her. She wanted to sleep so bad, and the warmth Leon gave made her want to take it all. She was freezing again now the blood had cooled.
