Zin had been feeling disheartened and restless, his shoulders slumped and steps pinched with low spirits. Finding fellow tricksters had been harder than he'd anticipated. He'd despaired to find himself falling behind schedule, with still no hopes of helpers. Or friends. The godfairy was lonely. There was only one cure he knew to lift the cloud that hung over him; a good prank.

Should he have waited until he had a better grasp of the school? Probably. But the godfairy couldn't help it. He'd needed a project to immerse himself in. The first victim that fell prey to his frustrations was a men's bathroom. In the middle of the night, he'd crept away from his bed with his trusty backpack of supplies. And then he'd gone hog wild with the set up.

He'd replaced all the lights with colored bulbs. Rigged the door so when it was opened, confetti and glitter would go everywhere. Tricked out the light switch with good old single strand of thread to trigger the radio (which he'd duck-taped to the wall above the door.)

Glitter bombed the sinks. Drizzled syrup on the floors. Wedged dis-solvable food coloring packets up the sink nozzles, so whoever used them next was in for a colorful surprise. Then he'd opened the toilet bowls and disconnected the water tubes, aiming them to spray up at the next person who dared to flush.

Zin smiled faintly. The bathroom stalls had been fun, and he'd already had the props ready to go, so all he'd had to do was dig them out of his backpack. Without any classes yet, there was nothing to distract the godfairy, and so he'd spent most of his spare time coloring and cutting and glueing like a madman.

He'd put a poster of Big Brother (I'm watching you) inside the last stall. Another had a poster of a cheering crowd. Zin had painted the dangling paper tower red and glued eyes onto the dispenser, so it looked like the mechanism was sticking it's tongue out. He'd posted a cutout dragon (with a thin plastic layer to keep it dry) behind one of the shower nozzles. Now it looked like a dragon was spitting on it's victims when the water was turned on. Then he'd filled one of the tubs with silly string.

Zin spared no expense on his pranks. It was a little flashy for his normal tastes, and not his best work with the haste he'd made to pull it all together...but it was a good tide-over until the real projects could start. There was no theme or flow, which bothered him, but he made amends to do better next time. There were tons of bathrooms. This had been more of an impulse, really. Next time would be ten times better

The finishing touch had been writing “HELP WANTED” in glow and the dark marker on the mirror. If there were no pranksters already in Lillegard, the school was in more need of him than he'd thought. The prank had done it's job in renewing his determination. All in all, as he surveyed his work, he felt much happier than when he had started.

He turned off the lights and set the string that would signal the blasting music. Then he creaked open the door, turning when he was halfway out to tie off the net that would release the confetti. Carefully, so as not to set off his trap, he eased the door shut behind him. An idiotic grin was plastered to his face. If it hadn't been the middle of the night, he may have even started to whistle.
