Ambrose frowned at the two's teasing. He was finally showing some self-restraint, and this was how he was rewarded? Still, it was for the best not to see the treasure if he was unallowed to take it (although he would never admit that to anyone).

"Have fun with that," Ambrose managed to smirk out, conjuring the mental image of a 1982 Susan B. Anthony instead. The ridges, the peaks-- all of the detailing surfaced in his mind perfectly. He would have to polish her when they returned to his room. . . .

"Climbing is perfectly fine," Ambrose replied at the harpy's odd question, noting the wings flailing out. "Flying is . . . questionable at best." He wasn't going to like this, was he?

Abenzu smiled to the harpy woman. It freed it's hands by letting go of her arm and replacing with it's tail so it wouldn't fall off. With arms free, Abenzu opened the little bag of coins, only occasionally looking at Ambrose in the process. It then pulled out a bronze and gold colored coin. (see the coin pic I drew, same coin.) "Ihs behst coyn, geh mor stahf with jus won," it explained, meaning this coin had the most value then the others, in Gnommish terms of course.

At her question, Abenzu thought a moment. "Claimmin noh prahblem...Flai-in...Ahv nehva flohn biifor....Wat's iht laik?"

The only response from Kale that Ambrose received for his comment was light laughter that was more a shake of shoulders than it was actual noise. She simply shrugged lightly and continued walking. As the rainbow monkey present the coin, she looked it over with what seemed an appreciative eye. However, she really had no interest in such a thing. It held little science and even less value to her. Of course, she found that appreciating this coin would make Abenzu find her amiable.

"Oh, it's very lovely." She cooed and put on a pleasant smile. "It is indeed a very special coin, looks old and valuable." She nodded, then thought about this second question carefully. "Flying is like...feeling very light and strong. But, of course, from a passenger's perspective, it's a lot like being carried. Simple as that."

Approaching the library doors, she pushed open the wood and entered the massive room. Strolling through the book cases, she made her way towards the center to where the semi-circle of stone pillars loomed high above them like giants. She pointed to the ceiling four floors above them, specifically to a very small trap door. It was hard to see without particular vision like hers, but it appeared like a spot.

"There's where we're going."

The laughter sent slight chills over Ambrose's spine. He was never frightened, per say, but rather appropriately warned of danger through slight tremors across the body. Some people termed it as "shivering." Ambrose believed those people to be ignorant.

Old . . . valuable . . . shiny . . . Best as Ambrose tried to keep occupied with his dear Susan, it became difficult very quickly to focus on somthing that wasn't . . . mere . . . feet away from him . . .

His eyes, needing despirately something, anything, to look at, followed Kale's talon up and up the stories above them. The distance did not frighten him-- he could easily recall several instances where the only way inside a bank was to climb several levels of smoothed concrete. So, climbing the distance was not a problem at all. Flying it was a completely different matter.

If Ambrose believed in a higher power, he would be defiling its name right now. Because he didn't, though, he chose to remain silent.

Abenzu smiled and returned the coin to the bag, closing it up again. It thought over whether to climb like it normally was used to or try out flying. "Ah wahna chrai flai-in. Iht saowns laik fahn." It gave Kale a cutesy look, half begging yet thinking she probably would have let it fly without needing to ask.

Abenzu felt a little excited when it looked up into the tower. It was an impressive sight. Taller than most of the hallways of the Gnommish underground cities, but it never had much fear ove heights. Abenzu continued staring up in awe, then noticed something. "Wayr yur ruum? Ohr yuu sliip laik uh baht?" It didn't notice the trapdoor at all with it's normal vision, rainbow eyes.

The harpy simply smiled and reached a hand up to pat Abenzu on the head.

"Well, of course we're flying. You just have to hold on, alright? There's a door to my room up there." The small monkey thing was light, and would hardly be a problem...Ambrose, on the other hand... she turned to look at him from the corner of her eye, contemplating. He seemed like he would be many times her own small weight. She prided herself on being able to lift Valentin, though, and all his loads of junk. Her smile crept a little wider. Yes, she was positive she could do this. Turning fully to face the boy, she raised an eyebrow and opened her arms as if to offer him a hug.

"Shall we, Ambrose? All you have to do is embrace and just let me do the rest." She took a step forward.

If she were being honest, she would have warned him that this wasn't go to be a particularly easy flight. When carrying things, it never was.

Let Kale do the rest . . . Right. This wasn't going to end well at all, Ambrose could tell. Still, anything to distract him from the nearby shiny was despirately needed. He didn't like to have things so much out of his control, but if Kale's flight would shake-off the despiration for Abenzu's coinage . . . so be it.

"Let's go." Ambrose gave his consent, however meaningless it was at this point, and grabbed hold of Kale around her small waist. Ready for take-off.

Abenzu nodded, holding onto Kale's arm tighter. It was pretty excited, this being the first time it'd ever flown. It had floated before but that was more like slow-motion falling. It looked up again, squinting to try and see the door. It pouted, not being able to see the door.

Abenzu gripped the coin bag tighter as Ambrose came closer, but it tried to keep it's excited desposition. It had to agree with Ambrose though, though not for the same reason. It was excited to fly and it wanted to fly soon. "Yehs, less goh."

Her shoulders shook lightly with withheld laughter as Ambrose's hold on her waist was placed and she felt the monkey-thing grab on tighter to her. She wrapped her arms around the red-haired boy under his arms, securing her own hold.

"Alright then." She spoke lightly as large wings opened up behind her. Creamy feathers unfolded out and up as the limbs stretched far over head. The air around them seem to adopt a chill as she drained it's energy, trying not to take from her own passengers. With strong beats down, almost testing in nature, the wings gathered the air beneath them. One, two, three times they beat. Upon the fourth, they arched higher as her knees bent and surged down as she tore them off into the air. It was an almost violent take off, but it didn't actually get them that far up, and soon her wings were up and down again, struggling them higher in a slightly jerky manner. This continued as the reached the tops of the first floor bookcases, and even though it was only five beats in total, they were harsh and slow. As the ascended to the tops of the cases, her legs kicked out against them, shoot them higher. From there, though, that was her last helpful object. It was all air above, all balconies to their sides, and all first floor farther and farther below them. She leveled with the second floor balcony. It was a descent height, and the harpy angled parallel to floor, giving her wings a rest to a more gliding position for a moment, though tightening her arms to keep Ambrose to her despite the gravity wishing to reclaim him legs first. Right then. Though contrary to what she wanted, Kale angled down for a brief, sickening drop before twisting back up with renewed speed, gravity having helped gain potential energy. It seemed easier now, higher above the bookcases. The bird made a line to the thin catwalk of a balcony along the outer edge of the library tower. Her feet stretched forward to grab on to the railing, and waited for Ambrose to take advantage of the new-found wood beneath his feet before she released him.

"You all right?" Kale smiled.

Just to their right, there was a thin, perilously rickety ladder attached to the stone wall. It climbed up directly to the trap door to her room.

((S'alright. Glad you're back. =] Lets move it when they get to the trap door. I would think one more round here is all. Is that good? ))

That laughter was anything BUT comforting. Far from it . . .

Ambrose found himself clinging to Kale a little tighter than he originally planned, fear rising in his chest. Yes, fear. Everyone was fearful of something. It wasn't the heights, though-- it was the transportation, the lack of control. He preferred walking.

A chill went up his spine, but the boy reassured himself. Think of the reward, Ambrose told himself mentally. Think of the shinies, the treasure, the coin--

LIFTOFF. The wings roughly lifted the threesome off the ground, from the safety of the floor, and into the air. The red-haired boy's legs and feet dangled dangerously underneath him; his ears were filled with the rustle of feathers and the wind being cast behind them. Even as the group landed, Ambrose could still hear the rush in his ears, the sound almost deafening.

--age, his mind finished.

Ambrose's world swirlted a little as he attempted to stand up, quickly deciding otherwise and merely sitting down where he was. His face was a noticable apple green.

At Kale question, Ambrose said nothing. He simply didn't want to throw up.

Before the group took off, all Abenzu could do was watch excitedly. It was in awe of Kale's wings, only ever seeing the wings of small birds, bats, and the Gnommish avians, Frothel. Kale's wings were many, MANY times larger. It watched Kale beat her wings in the practice beats but when shetook off, Abenzu almost fell since it had loosen it's grip some from the distraction of the teacher's wings. It scrambled to regain it's hold, making sure the coin bag was still in it's grasp.

Abenzu looked down after getting a proper hold and let out a surprised yelp at how high they were already. Now it's vision was to the ground. It marveled at the odd feeling in it's gut as it did the exact opposite of what it was used to. Course it was a lot less smooth than falling, but it seemed just as fun to fly. The higher they went the more the floor gave Abenzu the strange illusion that it was and wasn't there, it didn't even undestand.

Abenzu finally took it's eyes away from the floor and saw they were nearing some balconies. It noticed that one balcony in particular, they grew ever closer too, and to it's slight disappointment they landed. It was somewhat confused but relaxed it's grip some. "Ai gud," it informed since Ambrose said nothing, though it had the thought that the question was only for Ambrose.

A sly smirk gave an elegant twist to Kale's lips. Her hands released Ambrose as he decided to sit upon the balcony floor, noting his rather ill complexion, but completely unsympathetic. She took Abenzu's answer to be for both of them.

"Good good. See, that wasn't so bad." She turned and reached a hand up to amiably pat the rainbow monkey on the head to ruffle his strange brightly colored hair. "Just like being carried, yes?" She hummed lightly.

"I couldn't bring you all the way up in one go, taking passenger's isn't easy." Of course, she chose to tell them after the fact. "But now, you have a choice. I can take you up further to the door, or you can take the ladder." She casually pointed to the rungs ingrained in to the tower wall. "It's a bit high, and this balcony probably wont catch you if you fall. So, flying is safer if you're not a strong climber." Not that she minded students descending to their death, but it wouldn't be a good look upon her if they did die literally on her doorstep.

"So!" She chirped happily. "Who wants to come with me?" Her smile was bright, getting the feeling that while Ambrose would choose anything but returning to the open air, Abenzu might not be so adverse. Kale glanced between the two.

Why did the room refuse to stop spinning? Damn room . . .

Although hearing most of what Kale said to the two students, the sound of feathers was still stuck in Ambrose's ear drums along with the rush of the wind. His ears were ringing, too, which certainly did not help the lingering nausea.

"LADDER," Ambrose managed before covering his mouth again. That green wasn't fading away any time soon. Screw flying-- if he could scale bank walls while dodging their skilled security forces, then how hard could a rickety ladder be? He could do it, easily . . . just not right now. The room would have to stop spinning first.

Abenzu lets out a happy albeit animal-like noise when Kale petted it. It hadn't been petted since it left it's parents so being petted again felt more like a gift then whatever reason Kale was petting it for. At her question, it nodded. Much like the petting, being carried reminded it of home.

Abenzu didn't mind being carried again but with the offer of climbing, it felt confused. Of course it wasn't the ladder that called to it but the wall. Climbing was just so fun for it. It looked from the wall to Kale and let out a quiet whimper. "Ai cahnt diisaid."

Kale smiled at the strange noise from Abenzu, raising an amused eyebrow. Well, if nothing else, these two students helped brighten her mood. Crouched as she was upon the railing, the harpy leaned her elbow upon her knee and her chin upon the back of her hand. She gazed down at the boy sitting, hand clamped over his mouth, as if passively.

“Are you sure you can make it? You’re looking a little seasick, Ambrose. Would you like to abort the venture?” She smirked a bit. He was really so close, it would be a shame if he could not make the last leg. Of course, not that she would mind, as she would get to keep her treasures from his picking. But it really didn’t seem as if he could tackle the ladder this moment. Turning her attention to the little, indecisive monkey, she hummed.

“How about you climb, then. I’ll hold your coins, you help Ambrose. Cheer him up and see if you can get him to his feet?” Kale held out a hand for him to place the little coinpurse if he so choose to take this option.

Ambrose scoffed at Kale's concern, still holding onto the ground for dear life. He could make it easily, if he just waited a bit. The room had finally stopped spinning, yes, but he had a suspicion that it would start once again if he moved. Just a little bit longer . . .

'Help' . . . WHAT.
That monkey. Help him? No. No way would he let this pass.

"I'm fine--" Ambrose attempted to reassure them, standing-up rapidly-- but, the floor began to wobble again, his face turning a vicious shade of vermillion, and the pit of his stomach was in knots. That suspicion was right after all. He clutched his midriff hurriedly but was determined not to go down. Not now.

"I'm . . . fine," he said with determination.

Abenzu smiled some, least she didn't mind if it climbed. At her offer it shook it's head. Not that it didn't trust her, but, "Ihs ohkey." It tossed the bag behind it and caught the bag with it's tail. The tail gripped the bag tightly, "Sii, Ai haf tayl." It hopped off her shoulder and clung to the wall.

Abenzu slipped down the wall a foot at the suggestion of helping Ambrose. It seemed Ambrose shared the dislike of the suggestion. It watched him get up quickly and held in a snicker when it caught sight of Ambrose's face. "Hii luux ohkey tu mii." It made itself sound as innocent as it could for the moment, not a hard task but then it wasn't to sure.

Kale raised a hand to her lips to cover her smile as Ambrose was so determined to rise. She schooled her face so that when she lowered the hand, her lips were only slightly pursed in amusement that trying to make a cover of concern. She tutted lightly.

"Very well." She nodded and watched as Abenzu took to the wall, bag in hand...well, tail. Her amusement only slipped out a but further as the monkey seemed to be a little vindictive in its comment. Ah, poor Ambrose.

"Then, at your guy's leisure, then. Don't fall, and do be careful, especially you, Ambrose." She trailed a slightly wary look over the boy and she genuinely questioned whether he would make it or not. With a shake of her head, she tipped backwards off the railing. She dropped a small dip before opening her wings and soaring back up. It was so much easier without passengers, really. The ride for her this time was hugely smoother. Gusts of wind buffeted out as she angled towards the trap door far above. Slowing, she reached out to grab hold of the top of the rickety ladder before folding her large wings in. Kale used one hand to push open the trap door and climbed the few steps up into her room where she turned to look down and see how the kids were faring. Maybe, if one of them started to fall, she'd have enough time to drop back down to catch them before they hit the second floor balcony...maybe.

Ambrose watched shakily as both Abenzu and Kale took off, then staring upwards towards his own journey ahead. A fair distance, but not bad. He had scaled higher before, and with worse grips to work with. A rickety ladder was better than the mere gaps in between the bricks.

As soon as he looked up, of course, the red-haired boy felt nauseated once more. Not again . . . This was becoming ridiculous. He did not care if he was the last one up there, but Ambrose did not want to be delayed any more than he had to be. Determined to confront the ladder, the boy grabbed hold of one rung, nearly throwing-up in the process. Damn it. One down, a seemingly infinite amount to go.

The boy worked slowly-- he was forced to, with the coming-and-going sickness. The green from his face was starting to dissipate, but barely. Ambrose could hardly tell a difference in his condition from when he had started the climb, but it didn't matter regardless. He counted the pegs to distract himself from hurling: 35 . . . 36 . . . 37 . . .

Abenzu followed Kale's lead, scaling the wall with ease. Abenzu's fingers, being surprisingly hard for their look, gripped the stone digging in for a good hold yet not far enoug to hinder it's speed. Same thing applied to it's feet it used instead for grip but for thrust, helping it leap higher. It's tail swung wildly behind it, but the hold on the bag of coins didn't give out resulting in a rather loud jangling. Abenzu ignored the sound, no matter how raucous.

In no time Abenzu was at the trapdoor and it swung itself into the room, holding the rim of the door. Without a glance around, it peered over the edge, watching Ambrose take his sweet time. It had a pang of sympathy and when he was near enough, reached down to offer a hand up. It knew Ambrose would, in a 1000 to 1 ratio, decline the Gnome's help but it didn't care.

Seeing as the red-haired brat was doing alright, and that the monkey was already in the room in a rather speedy time, Kale figured her watch unnecessary. She turned to walk deeper into her room.

"Close the trap door behind you." She called to Abenzu. "And don't touch anything else, some things in here are poisonous and or just lethal." Her tone was almost bored, so used to living with these questionable things already. Right. She had to go make sure certain things were safely tucked away from prying eyes and collect her treasures for the boy's to look through.

. . . 75 . . . 76 . . .

Ambrose continued to climb the tall ladder, his nausea finally fading enough so that he could speed things up. The shinies. The shinies. Climb faster! His hands now sped long the rungs, launching himself from one to the other. A few cracked underneath the new pressure, but the boy went quickly along as to not notice the damage-- or, not notice enough to care. Only the possibility of gold mattered now.

Towards Abenzu's offer, the redhead gave no reply; he didn't need help from the rainbow monkey. He got up here on his own; he could at least finish the same way. The boy climbed through the hole, his eyes hungry for the treasure.

Abenzu's ears lowered at Ambrose's turn down and stood up to look around before sitting where it was so it could follow Kale's orders. It waited for Ambrose to get into the room so it could close the trapdoor also as ordered. It hummed a little melody, rocking to the strange beat the Gnommish song made.
