Post  Jami Futter Mon Sep 10, 2012 11:27 pm

Making the way through the huge buildings many halls and floors, the fairy found herself smiling on the way to the vestibule. The other day hadn't been so great having to deal with some new male that was friendly with Owen, then needing to clean them up after the vodka incident, which had been partly her fault. Now she was going to be with Owen again, just to hangout. Like the good old days before she had gotten into so much trouble. They were supposed to meet here soon, but knowing the boy, Jami came prepared to wait. She had a paper and pencil to doodle on.

Leaning on the fish tank Jami sat down and tried to get comfortable, which ended up with her laying awkwardly on her side, left elbow on the floor to hold up her head, right hand drawing. She tried starting with a simple circle, the basis for many things, as she started singing a bit to herself some alternative song that had been on her radio earlier. She wasn't sure on what the two of them were going to do today, but she felt something in her gut that was keeping her restless. There was no telling if the putting would end badly as many had, or well like a few had been.

For someone who'd spent the better part of the year sulking around in his room, the boy looked almost bizarrely optimistic today. He sported a small grin on his face, his stride just a tad more energetic than his usual sluggish saunter.

Wearing a hoodie that he decided not to obscure his face with today, he entered the vestibule, pausing by the fish tank just to peer within for a moment or two. It was almost habitual - maybe he'd see that sly little merman today. However, he was nowhere in sight, and he continued to wander around the circumference of the tank until he was met with the sight of Jami.

Instead of interrupting whatever she was doing, he stepped closer, crouching down in an attempt to get a closer look. "What'cha doing...?"

When the circle was near perfect to her eyes, the pencil went down the page unsure of what to do next with the art. She kicked her feet in the air a bit, unable to stay still. What could she do? She could draw a person, or make a cool pattern, or even make a scene, the circle acting as the sun or moon. Maybe she could make something for Owen. Sketching more circles all varying in size and shade of the grey scale, she started to make a clever picture. The circles in the middle, including the first one, were darker making the word Owen stand out. It was fun making all the circles and she even made it so some looked spherical.

Sensing someone was close she smiled a bit, assuming it was Owen. Just in time then, she was almost done. At the question coming from very close to to she looked up with a pleasant expression, "I was just doodling, you can have it if you want." she moved so that her butt was on the ground now and she sat up straight, crossed legged. Jami held up the paper to him so he could have a look. Rubbing her neck with her other hand she sighed, why did reading and drawing always make her neck stiff?

...What was she drawing? He squinted, as if it would help him decipher the odd arrangement of dots and circles. It didn't reach him immediately, in fact, he couldn't quite find it in himself to appreciate it that much. It was just a bunch of shapes. Kinda boring, really.

"Uhm, okay. Thanks," he said simply, accepting the paper out of politeness than anything else. Sidling down to sit next to her, he gave another glance to the drawing in his hand. Huh, could've sworn that he could see his name in there... He peered at it for a moment more before folding into quaters and squeezing it into a pocket.

"There was a... few things I wanted to..." He waved a hand around vaguely before bursting into a weak chuckle, shaking his head. "Well... Y'know. About that night... um. It didn't go so well." He scratched awkwardly behind his head. No, he didn't really want to elaborate.

The girl gave a small half smile as he put away the picture and sat next to her. She turned her head so she could look at him but still lean against the tank, it was kind of comfortable. As he began to talk she looked in his eyes, eve if he wasn't looking back. It was interesting what you could tell from a person if they use their eyes, sub conscience or not.

She ended up looking away by the time he was done, feeling uncertain herself. It had been a mess, literally and metaphorically. looking at her hands she kept her smile, "I'm just glad your better now," she leaned a little to her side to rest her head on his shoulder. Sighing she closed her eyes, "Esteban seems like an entertaining guy. Did you really know him when you were younger? It's pretty cool." she sounded slightly unsure when she spoke this, not sure on her feelings about the new, or at least new to her, boy that had arrived. She saw he made Owen act different, but he seemed like trouble, for sure.

His grin looked more like a grimace than something pleasant as he recalled the memory. Whilst the drunken night was nothing but a hazy blur in his memory, he could very well remember that aching hangover afterwards. Thankfully, he didn't have to think about it long, for she'd already changed the subject.

Tensing only slightly as she put her head on his shoulder, he glanced to her in visible surprise as her words seemed to show no contempt of his friend. He found it odd, especially as he could remember that the two hadn't really been getting along as well as he'd wanted them to. In fact, he could almost admit that Esteban had been a bit of an ass to her. Perhaps things wouldn't be as bad as he'd envisioned...? Yet from the way she said it, he couldn't be sure.

Either way, he nodded meekly, before a tiny grin sparked up as if recalling a distant memory. "...Yeah. Didn't expect to meet him 'round here. It's crazy...." He trailed off, before digging a hand into the pocket of his hoodie, as if feeling for something, before looking to Jami again. "Let's forget about him," he smirked. Wasn't that his point of this whole arrangement? So that he could keep Esteban and Jami separate? "I wanna show you something." And with that, he made a move to stand up, nudging her off his shoulder on the way.

It wasn't expected? It must have surprised him, maybe similar to how she had felt seeing Henry at first, that surprise had quickly left in seconds though before she tried to ignore the horrible man. She couldn't help now but slightly wonder what her old love had been up to recently, they hadn't met since he had tried to kill her. Not thinking about Esteban? Sounded good to her, focusing on what was going on right now was probably best, seeing she was being pulled into her thoughts often. Moving her head to look up now as the boy stood she lifted a hair to move the hair out of her eyes, and tuck it behind her ear.

With a curious look she tucked her bottom lip in, using her teeth to lightly hold it in place. She noticed his hand was inside of the hoodies pocket. Could it be something he found in his room, or taken from Rein? She stopped guess, there was no point really, she'd find out soon enough. With her still curious look she excitedly let a smile smile show, "What is it?"

What is it? At that very question, he can't stop himself from smirking, no matter how hard he tries to hide it. He opens his mouth as if he were about to answer it, before chuckling to himself and shaking his head. "I'm not gonna tell you."

He turned again, facing the fish tank, once again habitually peering within. After a moment or two, he looked to Jami again. "But you gotta promise me that you won't tell anyone. And I mean anyone. Not even Esteban or nuthin'." His eyes were suspiciously drawn towards the rest of the vestibule as if to keep an eye out, but luckily, there was no one in sight. His gaze returned to Jami, his hand digging deeper into the pocket.

AS he proclaimed she wouldn't be told she frowned and crossed her arms. That wasn't fair! Jami had gotten all excited for nothing! Ah, but he was probably messing with her. Her arms loosened and she left being the frown for a suspicious look. Out of the corner of her eye she watched the sea life in the tank like he seemed to be doing. As Owen looked down at her she smiled and nodded up back at him, "I promise I won't tell a soul! Just do it already, your driving me crazy!" Jami laughed a little.

Stretching out her arms she started guessing again, but nothing seemed to make much sense anyway. There was no telling what he was hiding. Her arms fell on her lap and she gave him a slight puppy dog face, "Pwease Owen?"

Well, at least she agreed. It was one of those things that Owen would have gotten into dire trouble for. Though, he could certainly say that he was used to the prospect of 'trouble' already - 'trouble' arrived whether he did anything to avoid it or not. How would this little thing make a difference?

He waved her off. "Alright, alright." His meander towards the front door was purposefully slow. "Keep your socks on."

Fingers flexed inside the pocket of his hoodie. If one was listening, they might hear a tiny clink of metal. He removed one hand and reached towards the large door, pressing it firmly against the wood.
"You're not gonna believe this," he grinned.
Then he pushed it open, wide enough for both himself and Jami, and peered outside towards where he'd expected a particular sight.

A crisp breeze swept along the castle walls, whistling as it pushed through nooks and crannies, carrying with it fallen leaves and the earthy smell of Autumn. The wind made Esteban's dark blue hair fly up, uncovering his pointed ears for just a brief moment, and blew up the loose t-shirt he was wearing, trailing chilly fingers across his skin. He expected goosebumps, but got none. The cold bothered him less and less every year, he realized. It didn't matter. What mattered was what he'd found.

He had been lounging around all day, just meandering on the castle grounds, not in a bad mood but not really in a good one either. He was bored, bored and nauseous, and the whole island offered very little in the way of distractions. The sort of distractions he would enjoy, anyway.

That is, until he decided to go back inside, only to find a certain something parked in front of the entrance. He had approached it slowly, with disbelief, chuckling a bit at how out-of-place it looked there, right next to some dusty ancient castle gate. A chopper. A sleek, hardcore, vintage chopper, clearly customized to hell and back, with all sorts of pipings and lights and additions of indeterminate purpose. They were either the work of a maniac or the work of a genius. Wasting no time, Esteban had grinned and ran up to it, circling it once to get a good view then clambering on top of it in hopes of finding the key in the ignition. No such luck. So now, he was kneeling in the seat, Swiss army knife in hand, leaning over the handlebar to inspect it.

Catching movement in the corner of his eye, he glanced sidelong briefly and saw a familiar mug poking out of the doorway. He looked back to the machine as he bounced up in the seat a bit with excitement, pointing to it with the tip of the blade.

"Homes, lookit that! What sorta idiot would leave this here? There's no key, but I'ma try to hotwire it and we can..." With that, he looked to Owen again, this time noticing another silhouette next to him... and his excited grin faltered in surprise, only to be replaced by a much more wicked sort of a smile. He brought both of his legs to one side of the chopper and wriggled his fingers in a sort of a wave.
"'Ey, there, shorty... Imagine that."

The bright light coming through the doorway made it difficult to see at first. Peering through though she could make out a stationary shape just outside. Owen seemed excited, so she was to. It was a bit infectious. Finally when the light had adjusted in her eyes she could see before the was a motorcycle. That wasn't the most of it though. Upon the vehicle was a green male. Esteban. Her expression now blank except from wide eyes she looked towards Owen a bit confused.

The thing Owen had been fingering in his pockets for must have been the keys the green boy had mentioned were missing, which lead her to believe he was not apart of this, 'surprise', especially since earlier Owen had made her promise not to inform him of the said 'surprise'. Turning a bit pale her stomach was knotted. Poor Owen! He had gone and put together something, getting up and doing something with his life, for once, and Esteban was going to ruin it!

Taking a soundless deep breath she regained her color and she moved her gaze back towards Esteban. "Hello Esteban, how are you?" Might as well be polite, she didn't have anything really against him, just that bad vibe which she blamed on his health.

Post  Owen Mueller Fri Nov 09, 2012 12:01 pm

Whilst Owen had fully expected to see the chopper sitting there, what he didn’t expect to see was his faithful green companion straddling it with some deranged smirk on his face. At any other time, he would’ve appreciated his company. But not now. Any time but now. And as he exchanged a glance with Jami, he realized another thing with horror: that deal. That bloody deal that’d kept him restless ever since the day it’d been uttered.

And now here they were.

Put on the spot with so much to process at once, Owen’s mind completely blanked. No matter what words he tried to amass in his head, they all managed to slip away before he could form any sort of explanation. What could he possibly say? There were things there he didn’t want the other knowing; everything was just so horribly timed. Why did it always have to be this way…?

He couldn’t even tell whether he was angry or just plain horrified; it like that moment of suspense directly after a slap in the face, when the air stood still, when breaths were held…

Eventually, he managed to splutter out a question. “Wh-what are you doing here?” he cried, an accusatory finger pointing at Esteban, just wanting to blame anyone but himself for the awful coincidence.

Then he remembered Jami – right. They were in a relationship. Without much thought, he reached his other hand out to try and latch onto her forearm; the closest thing to her hand that he could bear to touch right now.

While he anticipated some surprise, the extent of it was confusing, and it put a damper on his joy over finding the machine. Jami was clearly unpleasantly shocked, Owen stared like he'd seen a ghost, and that exchange of glances... It wasn't like he'd expected them to jump for joy, really, and he was used to people reacting badly to him in general, but... A mixture of hurt, indignation and anger flashed briefly in his eyes; but then he realized that it couldn't be just his sight that caused that. There had to be something more. Of course, Owen could be nervous over their bet, which told Esteban all that he needed to know about his relationship with Jami, really... not that he needed any more confirmation, but yeah. But then again, why would the girl be startled as well... did he tell her, or...?

Blinking away his frantic train of thought, Esteban decided that he wasn't bothered either way; however this went, whether he won or lost the bet, Owen would be squirming - and it would be hilarious. The smirk slowly seeped back onto his face, pulling at the corners of his mouth as his gaze flickered between the two.

"M'fine, thanks." Esteban pushed himself off the bike to stand beside it, hooking a thumb on the belt loop of his jeans. "Well, homes," he said. "I kinda live 'ere now." He reached back to pat the seat of the chopper, grinning. "An' this be my ride now."

Watching the interaction between the boys, Jami could tell she looked all but pleased. At least the boy was nice enough to reply to her without adding a comment. As Owen latched onto her arm she gave him a slightly confused looked, quickly looking away to Esteban, putting things together in her head the best she could. As far a she knew, Owen had a motor cycle, and wanted to surprise her some how with it. Then Esteban showed up but he wasn't supposed to, and Owen suddenly got close to her. Other than that she had no explanation for what was going on.

What made her mad was the fact, the bike wasn't Esteban's, and he was claiming it. "It's yours? But I thought you didn't claim it as yours earlier? You wouldn't steal something that rare would you?" By rare she implied, it was rare to the island, but she couldn't be so sure the new comer would know this yet or not. Jami tried to shake Owen off as she headed forward, outside to where his friend was waiting.

"I know if it belonged to a certain dean, they wouldn't be pleased, and you'd regret taking it. Not that it is his, but there's always a consequence for someones actions. Even if it isn't to the person who committed it." The fairy's eyes were glowing with her energy. She was going to push wisdom he may or may not know or care about on him whether he liked it or not. It would make her feel like she at east tried. All the while she was doing this, she tried to appear and sound calm, casual even.

His ride? His ride? With furrowed brows, he clutched the keys inside his pocket, moments from objecting. But he stopped, mostly because no words managed to reach the tip of his tongue. Not only that, but Jami was complicating matters. If he'd gone and admitted the ownership of that bike, she'd have every reason to reel around and give him the exact same lecture. Man, was he looking forward to that.

The day had started so well too. For once, he'd had plans, not only that, but he was actually excited about them. But now... Well, it'd be foolish to suppose that anything was going to turn out well, but this was ridiculous. His patience was wearing thin.
As Jami shook his arm off, he grunted unhappily before reaching to latch onto her wrist again. Then, without a single trace of amusement in his eyes, he stared down the green twit.

"Esteban." The name was almost growled. "Get the eff away from my bike."

When Jami started to speak, for a moment he couldn't tell if she was joking or just daft. A small snort escaped him. Yeah, right, you weren't supposed to steal rare things. Truth be told, he'd steal the moon if he thought it possible.

And as she prattled on, he found it more and more hard to bite his tongue, crossing his arms and giving Jami the flattest of unimpressed stares. Was Owen really into that... bore? Yet still he held himself from snapping back, just for an old mate's sake. What the girl was saying kind of reminded him of the little moral lessons they put at the end of old cartoons, the kind that he'd watched as a kid, huddling on the floor alone at night in front of one of the TV sets in his father's video rental store. Stealing is bad. Listen to your parents. Lying will get you in trouble. Evil gets punished.

Little pieces of shiny, colorful, pretty bullsh*t. Put there just to tease him. To rub in how none of it applied to his life.

And another one of those lessons was "be good to your friends".

Underneath his cool facade, a storm had been building, and Owen's tone was just what was needed for it to be unleashed. The words didn't even matter. But he did register the lame excuse for a swear word, and in his ears, it sounded mocking.

With only a slight eyetwitch as a warning, he leaped to snatch the front of Owen's hoodie in a white-knuckled grasp and jerk him forward, a furious sneer on his face.

"Oh issat so?" he hissed. "An' what happens if I don't?"

Giving up slightly Jami ran her fingers through her hair, closing her eyes to listen. When Owen's tone became harsh her eyes opened plainly staring between them. Was Owen standing up to his friend? This was... interesting. Her abdomen felt twisted though as she saw Esteban leaped towards the boy. Oh god, more fights. Frowning she hid her hands in her pocket, to lessen the temptation of hitting this guy. What the heck was his problem. The stance he held seemed so stereotypical of a school bully. Was he really Owen's friend? Was there any reason this could be a way of a friend toughening up another friend... probably not. He seemed like a Leon. No wonder she couldn't tell if she liked the guy or not. Friends but enemies? Why was the theme so common.

She wanted to say something, but she had a feeling her words wouldn't do anything except make the green male not like her any more than what he already thought. Jami felt like she could be friends with anyone if they weren't so stubborn. She was cool when she wasn't angry...right? Shaking her silly thoughts away she focused on her energy. If Owen couldn't deal with this she was prepared to make Esteban's muscles immobile.

Needless to say, Owen regretted those words as soon as they left his mouth.
He hadn't expected Esteban to suddenly surge forwards like that, and he gasped in shock as his collar was yanked. Crapcrapcrapcrap--- He ducked down, as if to try and hide slightly inside his own hoodie.

He looked to Jami. What must she be thinking? With Esteban at his neck like this? He attempted a grin, waving his hand in an unintentionally frantic manner as if to signify that everything was just fine and dandy and that he could totally handle it.

And then to address the actual question - a question that he'd obviously not prepared an answer to beforehand, and was now sorely wishing that he did. As his jaw hung open, his mind was torn by how to respond, and it wasn't exactly helped by the close proximity of Esteban's sneering face. Back down; be dubbed a wimp. Snap back; get into a conflict. Neither of which seemed more appealing than the other. During these precious few moments of thought, one might hear his quiet, indecisive whine.

"I just..." He gestured desperately towards the bike. "I just don't want you to get dirt on it...!"
It sounded better in his head.

His narrowed gaze remained trained on Owen's face even as the aforementioned tried to hide in his attire like a turtle in its shell, and then seemingly sought help from the girl. He was still staring when Owen let out a barely audible cry, and still staring when the lame answer came. And for a moment longer, he deliberately let the silence drag out to psych Owen out.

The truth was, he could beat the snot out of that guy. Perhaps he should. But... there was a part of him that still didn't want to, partly due to some pointless nostalgia for the old times, partly because, in some way, he could still need him.

Esteban scoffed straight into his face and let go, shoving him slightly, then reached to roughly smooth out the front of his hoodie as a cold smirk took place on his face. "Thass nice of yo." He inclined his head in mock-gratefulness. "No need, though. I can take care of me bike alright on my own." He took a step back to lean against the chopper, lightly as to not make it fall over, with an owner's swag. Casually, he began to examine his dirty nails.
"So, whatchu doin'ere, neway?" He paused for effect, then glanced up at them devilishly as one corner of his mouth quirked up. "Date?"

Jami closed her eyes when Owen spoke. Oh dear. Taking a deep breath she carefully opened them not sure what she'd see. Jami was glad the boy had let go of Owen, this way he wouldn't be all over the floor, yet he was being such an ass. He knew it was Owen's didn't he? People these days. At least she wasn't being talked to this rudely. If that became the case she'd get pissed for sure. Her ears picked up the word date though and her cheeks flushed. Was it supposed to be a date? She hadn't thought it was, just another hang out to get close with Owen again.

tucking some loose hair behind her ears Jami walked up next to Owen and went to hold onto his arm, and rest her head on his shoulder. Would it help, or make things worse? Oh goodness it was so frustrating feeling useless. Her hair fell back in front of her eyes. She wanted to speak as well, stand up to this bully of a friend. She couldn't though. Was it possible petunia took some of her confidence away? No, Jami was just lost, that was it. "I'm afraid not now. We can't get there together with out taking forever." Oh gosh, that probably didn't help, but she couldn't take it back now. Did she sound too sarcastic, hopefully more saddened. Could she make him feel guilty with an innocent act. Probably not but it was worth the try.

The silence was not reassuring, especially from the way Esteban was staring at him. He was well on his way to appearing quite headless when he finally pushed him away. Expression disgruntled, he had to bite hip lip to stop himself from making any more thoughtless protests. From how often the boy terrified him sometimes, he wouldn't be surprised if, one day, he just flat-out soiled himself. He gripped the key in his pockets once again - Esteban might try as he might, but he didn't have the key. He felt that bit assured.

Except that that sense of assurance didn't last for long.

Esteban seemed to have a knack for asking the worst possible questions at any given moment, and right now was just another brutal example to add to that list. A date? A date? No, why did he have to ask? He could've just left it, but noo, he had to just butt into business that wasn't his own, and bring up that stupid dare again just to tease him and---

He offered but a quick, panicked glance at Jami as she moved to rest her head on his shoulder. Please don't, please don't--- He could've sworn that his blood almost froze at her words. A abrupt, one-syllable laugh escaped him, a laugh that scarcely clung to any sense of mirth. A weaker chuckle was forced thereafter. "Haha... Jami's just being silly... hah." He smiled - but it was sort of detached from the rest of his face in a way that plainly wasn't that genuine. Ohgodohgodwhy. "'Course we're dating. Didn't I tell ya...? I mean, we've been going uh..." His hand waved vaguely, unsure how to finish the sentence.

Change the subject. Change the subject NOW.
"How ya gonna ride that without the key?" He was looking at the motorbike.

Esteban wasn't sure what reaction he had expected from Jami, but he was sure that walking up to Owen to hang onto him was one he'd consider unlikely. He leaned his head back slightly in surprise, peering at them suspiciously. Was this set-up? But then, Jami didn't seem the type to play along with something like this just to let somebody win a bet. And then Owen's words... Oh no. He bit his lip slightly, a look of worry passing briefly through his face as he looked aside.

Was he wrong? Were they actually dating? Was he going to lose? Just how sadistic Owen could get if he did get the power over him? Could Esteban come up with a reason why the bet was void to avoid losing, or maybe he could just back out...? But what would happen then?

He blinked, snapping back to reality just in time to stop his frantic train of thought from running into a wall, and looked to Owen with a raised eyebrow. Standing up straight, he remembered about the knife in his hand and glanced down to it, then back to the boy. "I'ma hotwire it. Ainchu listenin' to nothin' I say?" He shot him a look that was almost offended, then turned his head to the machine. "I only ever did it to a car, but if I mess'round wit'it long 'nuff, m'sure I can do it..." His voice trailed off into a mumble as he leaned over the bike again to examine the handlebar up close, the dare forgotten momentarily in favor of the cool, if weird, vehicle.

Wrong, wrong, wrong! She was stupid! Could she do nothing right? Trying was the only way to know though. Jami's stomach felt all twisted. Why was this situation so hard if they were friends? Silly. Owen was right, that's all she was. Of course we're dating... It was getting to her now. His words being spoken out loud proved to her he was faking to his friend. Even though she guessed it, it hurt. He was using her. Owen was pretending to date her to Esteban, and it was for some selfish reason. The boy wouldn't go and ask her to help him, when he should know she'd be willing. Jami knew he wouldn't want to be in a real relationship, especially after all the shit that happened before, but inside Jami felt she had been working hard to get back whatever she thought they had, and now it appeared hopeless.

Jami wanted to leave. Owen was a coward, a jerk. Leon was right... but she couldn't leave. Staring at the floor in frustration, Jami slid away from Owen, too upset now to want to be so close. All this time Jami appeared to be zoned out, thinking deeply, but it wasn't very obvious as to what. Inside she felt that even though she was mad, she would end up getting over it, and running back to him. It was sad. Jami didn't know what to feel though. What was right or wrong? The fairy didn't want to hurt the boy she had feelings for, and running away, or staying probably wasn't going to help. A lose, lose situation. Some serious thoughts about her life decisions would need to be thought over when she was alone.

Esteban seemed worse than Owen. He seemed overly confident and aggressive. But weren't both side of the spectrum just as bad as each other? Looking up at the boys her face was blank. "This is stupid."

Through all of this mayhem, Owen hadn't really considered how Jami would feel with all this, with him faking that they were going steady. Maybe she'd be a bit mad at him, but nothing that couldn't be amended, right? She might not even notice. What mattered now was that his own dignity was at stake in the hands of his green-skinned companion. So when she pulled away, he barely thought anything of it.

She didn't say anything.
So it was okay.

Releasing a sigh, along with the realisation that he'd been holding his breath, he wondered hopefully if his hasty lie had somehow managed to convince Esteban. There weren't any objections at least, or any further, pressing questions. However, he did have to frown as he returned his attention to the motorcycle. "Hey... Hey!" He rushed forwards, waving out an arm in front of the handlebars to block his line of sight. "Dun' do that. S'not yours. It's mine." In plain sight, he jangled the key that was looped around a single finger... before Jami spoke up behind him.

He turned a confused look towards her. "Whut's stupid?"
