"Oh my" Risiko said, eyes going wide and brows, deciding that maybe eyes weren't the best neighbors, moved upwards on the head. His arms went up to shoulder level, hands wide open. Of course he knew about decay, but seeing it happen was something away. His usual thought pattern started up, almost as a card catalogue:
'Dead body moving, voodoo, reanimation, possession? Possession, separation of mind and body. Body falling apart, leprosy, rats, decay. Decay, healing, maintenance. Decay, dead skin cells, repair, slower repair with age. '
'The problem lies not with preservation, but with maintaing the body's cells as it goes through wear and tear'

A combination of words, images and general feeling. Seeing Kufer leaving, he looked back at Mr. Sharp cowering like a child. He looked back at Kufer's back. 'Interesting dynamics' he concluded.

Kufer paused at hearing the plant person's shreik. He didn't turn around, just, sort of adopted an even more miserable posture. He knew this sort of thing happened, quite often really. He wished people would just understand, it wasn't to much to ask was it? He sighed.

".....It's not like I asked for this cursed life." He stood there a moment more before slowly leaving. He needed to fix his hand.

It didn't matter if he asked for it or not. It just simply was, and it was horrible, repulsive and wretched. Without removing his stare until the moment the undead monster left, he traced his eyes down the path that he'd walked, taking a mental note that the floor would require a very thorough scrubbing. He dreaded to know what would've happened if the horrible news had been revealed much later - just how many floors would need sweeping? How many books disinfected?
...And, worst of all, were there others like him...?

He cleared his throat, before sliding away from behind Risiko's legs, returning to his position in front of him.
"My sincerest apologies, you were not meant to see that," he said; whether 'that' referred to his angry outburst or his fearful cry was unclear.
"Never mind that... interruption..." His fingers knotted together - he seemed more nervous than usual. "Shall we continue?"

Risiko watched Kufer depart. Causing scenes wasn't really his thing, but it was still sad to see the situation Kufer was in. He turned back to Mr. Sharp. "Sure. To the upper stories then?"

Tony was relieved to find that the newcomer did not press the situation, or question it. He was far from being capable of forgetting it, but he could at least push it to the back of his mind for now.

"Certainly. Follow me," he said, bowing his head and beginning to climb the steps again - a slightly more difficult task for someone of his size.
"So, why did you decide to enrol at Lillegard?" He didn't look at Risiko as he asked, but he maintained a casual tone.

Risiko climbed far more slowly than he usually would have, and only one step at a time. He figured it would not be good to race up and leave the staff behind. Continuing to look at the library, he responded to Mr. Sharp's question.
"I have some peculiarities, and I figured this would be the best place to sort them all out" he said absently. This library was enormous.

It was a mixture of appreciation and offence that Tony felt as Risiko climbed more slowly beside him, but he managed to avoid presenting any of his mixed feelings. Every once in a while, he'd check back at the door Kufer left through, as if paranoid that he'd return. that is, until Risiko spoke again, to which he addressed him with a curious look.

"Peculiarities?" he echoed, perplexed. "Do elaborate."

"See, it is as such. Occasionally I will make something, say, a top or a pen. It sometimes comes out odd. It'll do things that I didn't plan for it and what not." Risiko struggled with the words. It was a difficult concept to explain, magic without intent, and a complete absence of ability on his part.
"Oh, forget it. Here, let me show you" he said as he took a carved wooden knife in the style of a stiletto from his jacket pocket and, without warning, plunged it into his chest.

"Odd...?" He was listening attentively, but even then, he couldn't grasp exactly what he was referring to. How odd? Did it cease to function? Did it become magical? Or did it just turn... bizarre? His mental mullings were quietened as Risiko offered a demonstration.

His eyes alighting with interest at the wooden knife, he waited calmly and patiently... that is, before he went and stabbed himself.
With a frightened squeal, he flinched away from him, pressing his back against the stair railing. Why did he...?! "G-goodness...!" he choked, his eyes wide with shock. "Why on Earth...?"
Panicked, and only just recalling what the man had said before, he stared anxiously to see if he was okay.

Risiko wiggled the knife around a little before smiling at his little joke. "Sorry about that" he said before removing the knife. His shirt had no hole, nor was there any blood. He held the knife in front of him loosely. "See? Ephemeral knife. It's not very sharp, and if you want it to, it'll go through anything you'd like." For additional demonstration he wove it in and out of this hand a few times like a sewing needle. Risiko then offered it to Mr. Sharp by the handle. "Here, if you'd like to try it. Just think that it can pass through mass. It'll do the rest"

At the apology, Tony squinted harder, before realising that neither he nor his shirt had been wounded by the attack. A shaky sigh of relief escaped him, but still, he wondered; how? Had it been an illusion? A trick of the eye? He nodded slowly as Risiko explained, watching with fascination.

"A prankster, I see?" He shook his head, his worry slowly dissipating. Tentatively, he grasped the knife, before reaching to wave his hand along the wooden blade. Even though he had seen it before his eyes moments before, it didn't fail to surprise him as his hand managed to pass through. He repeated the motion, his eyes widening, suddenly completely captured by the strange object like a child with a new toy.

"Wow...!" he gasped, 'slicing' the knife through his own head. "This is spectacular, I have enevr quite seen anything like it! A object that can be merely willed to pass through solid matter!"
With an eager light in his eyes, he leaned forwards towards him. "How does it work?"

Risiko almost laughed at the professor's shift in attitude from just minutes before. The fascination with his stuff was usual, but the complete change in Mr. Sharp's mood was an effect of his objects he had not witnessed before. Hm! Maybe he should bring some to a funeral.
Risiko's smile turned awkward at the question. "Ah, that's the thing." He said, almost apologetically. "I don't really know. I do know that I carved it, and I do know it only lasts for so long before becoming solid again, but that's the extent of it" He shrugged. "Magic. I don't know anything about it, save that I can do it. Sometimes" he added as an afterthought.

His enthusiasm started to dwindle down the more that Risiko spoke. At his mention that the knife only lasted a small while, he quickly yanked it out of his own head, worrying that it would form again before it did.

"I see..." he said, struggling to hide his disappointment. "Magic... There's never quite an explanation for 'magic', is there?" He sighed. "Perhaps one day, we'll find some rational scientific reason for it." As hopeless as it seemed, this academy was the perfect place to study such a phenomenon.
And this was the perfect candidate, it seemed.

He raised his head to give him a direct look.

"No, there never is" Risiko agreed, looking down. Sure, he was human, but it'd be nice to know why or how he could do odd things sometimes. He looked up at Mr. Sharp's question.
"A few. Most of them are packed away" He gestured downwards. "In my luggage."

"Never?" His voiced raised with a sudden surprise as he blinked at him inquisitively. "My dear, don't say 'never!' There is an answer out there, I am sure of it."

He nodded in affirmation, confident of this idea. After all, it was his entire purpose to figure out those things that no one had figured out before. He followed Risiko's gesture back downstairs. "...Ah." He glanced to the man again. "Then we simply must go see them!"

Without another word, he turned and started to scurry down the stairs, stumbling, but far too excited to care.

Risiko gave a longing look back up the stairs. "But..books.." he murmured quietly. And there were only two more stories to go... ah well. There would be plenty of time at the school. He lived here now. He turned and quickly walked down the stairs, not quite as fast or as enthusiastic as Mr. Sharp.
Reaching the bottom of the stairs, Risiko was relieved that his luggage was still there. Laying it flat and opening a zipper, Risiko kneeled as he pulled out a hard cardboard box. Undoing a clasp, he opened it and laid it out flat, facing Mr. Sharp. In it was a bracelet, a top, and three stacked masks.
Facing the box towards Mr. Sharp, he laid down the knife and unstacked the masks. There was one in a raccoon pattern, one smiling divided in two colors, and one brown one with an eye on the forehead. "Waschbär, Half-n-Half, The blind see" he said, motioning to each one, respectively. He smiled. "Try one on, if you'd like. "

He didn't catch Risiko's last remark, being far too excited at the prospect of discovering new mythical knick-knacks. He fidgeted restlessly as he opened the bag, unable to contain a tiny 'eeee' upon seeing the masks. And which one first? His fingers wavered over each one, before eventually grasping the one with the split.

Given that he didn't have a particularly human-shaped head, Tony had his doubts about whether it would work, but he attempted anyway. With both hands, he pressed the mask into his face. At first, only a thick blackness clouded his sight. Confused, he was about to turn to Risiko for explanation, when a turquoise blur met his gaze instead. With a surprised, muffled squeak, he stumbled backwards, seeing his own yellow feet below him. He twisted to look around the rest of the room - greens, indigos, blues and greys were dotted all around. An entire colour spectrum of people.

He removed the mask- for the sake of speaking - looking towards Risiko. He blinked. "What... what did that do?"
Was it temperature? For some reason, he doubted it.

He sat and watched as the plant library looked around. The image of a static mask on his head could be perceived as creepy. No facial gestures, always smiling and frowning might be un-nerving to some. But his motions, squeak and the falling backwards all conveyed excitement and interest. Risiko remembered when he first tried on the mask. Of course, that was all black, no one was around. But when he saw someone...
Risiko grinned broadly like a child showing off a new toy. Mr. Sharp took of the mask and had his inquiry. "It took me awhile to figure it out. Did you see colors instead of people? Against a black background? Yes? What you're seeing" he spoke slower, and motioned with his hands for a greater effect. "is people coloured by emotion! Each color represents what that person is feeling. Yes! Interesting, yes!?"

Nodding fervently to each of the student's questions, his wide gaze was completely fixated on him with intense interest, way too immersed in his presentation. "Emotion?!" He echoed with wonder, looking down to the mask again. "Yes... This is most interesting!"

He pressed the mask onto his own face again, seeing the colours has he did before - and this time, less startled about it. He glanced around excitedly. Finally, he could sense the emotions of others from afar! However, his excitement soon dwindled down with the realisation that he didn't actually know what those colours meant. He squinted towards Risiko, before pulling the mask off his face again.

"...So how are you feeling anyway?" he sheepishly piped. "As in... uh... What are the colour's emotions?"

"Well, it's a new day... it's a new life...for me... and I'm feeling...goooood" Risiko quoted, half singing. He smiled at his small joke. "But yes, I'm feeling good right now. Let's see if I can't remember what each colour means".

Risiko's right eye closed as his brow lowered over it, pushing his left one up as a teeter totter might. The left eye, feeling nervous without it's usual coat, decided to try to look for it as hard as it could.
"Let's see... roy gee biv.... red means upset... orange is nervous, while yellow panics... wait, no, yellow is attentive, alert. Green is happy, blue is calm... biv... indigo...alert, happy, calm... tired! Indigo means they're tired, biv, violet is melancholy. What else.. black white and brown... alright, brown is confused, white means they're feeling a fight or flight response, and black means that it's either not alive, or not conscious. Oh, and grey is bored" Risiko finished, a little louder than necessary when he got to grey.

"Oh, and they mix to. So someone paranoid would be and orangish-yellow of sorts, because they're both attentive and nervous." he added as an afterthought.

Tony's anxiety faded with the tiny song - really, he would've smiled if he'd been capable of it. As the list arrived, he nodded slowly, listening carefully to each of them, somewhat jumbled as it was. Thankfully, it would not be very difficult to remember with correlated with what, but getting used to that would be a different matter.

"I see..."
He hummed, equipping the mask once again to peer around. Greens, indigos, blues and greys. Happy, tired, calm and bored - most of them a mix between. Well, why they all weren't a startling bright green in a wonderful place like a library was completely beyond him.

He lowered the mask. "This... this is most spectacular!" He blinked. "Interpreting emotions is such a difficult matter - I just can't tell sometimes!"

With an almost puppy-like gaze - as puppy-like as a mutated plant creature could get, anyway - he looked up at the other man, hugging the mask close to his chest.
"Can I...?"

Risiko watched Mr. Sharp look around the library. He remembered how he had used the mask, back when it was hard talking to people...figuring out how people felt when they said something. It was like figuring out a riddle, putting together their words, colour, tone, and how they said they were. Who would have known that people that said they were 'fine' had so many turbulent emotions?

"Can you what?" Risiko asked. Keep the mask? That... might be difficult. Without knowing how he made it the first time, there would be no guarantee he could make another one. It was a useful tool, but it was also very personal...

"You.. want to keep the mask?" He asked hesitantly, his smile fading a bit.

"Keep the..." He echoed his words under his breath, before shoving the mask into his own face, just to check in case. And, just as he had suspected, Risiko didn't seem quite so happy at the idea, and he hastily lowered it again. "Ah... I guess I should not keep it if you did not desire me so... but..."

His arms were ever stubbornly coiled around the mask. "If not to keep... might I even borrow it? For research? I mean, such an object would be essential in my studies-- and understanding the ranges of emotion in the human expression and what it truly means---!" His voice escalated with excitement as he continued his onslaught of desperately pitiful looks. "Please?"

((! clever, so very clever! I can honestly say I didn't see that coming!))
Risiko resented his creation being used against him like that. He had never considered the privacy of someone's inner workings as a problem before, but now it felt... uncomfortable.

This conversation with Mr. Sharp was displaying a new perspective for Risiko. Up until this point, he had only used the mask as a learning tool, to figure out polite subtleties and signs as to how the conversation should move, when to end it, when to change the topic, and the like. More recently, and more often, it was something that's primary function was figuring out where someone was hiding, or to spot people from a distance.

But... so long as it would be used for a good cause... Mr. Sharp had been helpful, and did seem passionate about his research... and neither of them were going anywhere soon...
"Howabout this: I'll give it to you on loan. This way, you can use it to your heart's content, and should I require it, I know where to find you. Yes, deal? Sound fair?" Risiko asked. Access to the library in return to access for magic. Knowledge for knowledge, seemed a good bargain for everyone.

Tony stood, shock still with his pleading expression fixed upon his face as he awaited Risiko's answer. As soon as he began speaking, his head raised hopefully, and before he even finished, the plantperson was already nodding eagerly. "Yes! Yes, this is completely fair! Thank you so much!"

His legs shook, and soon he caved to his knees, pretty much at the point of bowing at the student. Answers. This mask was his ticket to answers. Answers that he had so desperately craved.

"I shall make certain that no harm shall befall it," he promised. "You need only talk to me and you will have it back!"
It was a promise that he intended to keep... that is, to the best of his ability.
