Vera was pondering all that Rein had said back in the kitchen and she was thinking that he was perhaps hiding something that would make their relationship impossible, but what could it possibly be? She had no clue at this point but hell if she was willing with her immortality then how bad could his really have been? She didn't know what to make of it, but at least Rein didn't shut down the whole thing completely. That she was grateful for. Looking around the halls she came to a door with him and smiled. The doors seemed quite large compared to the others and she felt her curiosity perk more than ever and she pulled Rein towards it.

Grabbing the handle she twisted it used her weight against the door and slowly got it to open. "Sheesh heavier than I thought....." Finally getting into the room she had Rein follow before taking anymore steps. Looking around she had remembered this place, it was where her and Blake were attending for the ball. Vera tried to think back and see if maybe Rein had attended, but couldn't recall. She shrugged and wondered about Blake and what he may have been doing right now. He knew this place better but after that night he just managed to disappear. Where to? Who knows. Vera turned towards Rein and smiled, "This place is awesome I was here once before and look they have alcohol over there!" She said as she pointed to the corner where a bar was lined with wines and booze oh all sorts in the cabinets. "Tell me you at least drink Rein!" She said hoping he would join her for a few sips of chardonnay.

Perking her ears, Vera though she had heard something, but after a moment of listening nothing came. Maybe that little rat was playing around, either way it seemed to be nothing to worry about. She then returned all her attention back to Rein as he talked.

Good things lead to Death Empty Re: Good things lead to Death

Post  Rein Wed Aug 03, 2011 6:40 pm

Rein followed Vera, he had no idea where they were going, having never been down this part of the castle. His hands where stuffed in his pockets and his long legs gave great strides that kept him walking beside the woman he was with. The large set of doors that Vera seemed suddenly interested in were grand and decorative. Obviously the other side must be an important room. He was pulled towards them and as Vera struggled to open, he chuckled in good nature.

His eyes went wide seeing the room beyond. It was huge and laced in marble. At the back of the room, there were two large staircases centered that lead to balconies that wrapped around the room. The windows were large and had a view of the sea. The natural light was fading, but the sunset set the ballroom to glow a soft golden orange. Sparkles of light danced around the room as the last rays of sun streamed in and bounced off the grand chandelier that was draped in crystals and gold. Rein looked around himself in wonder, his gaze eventually landing back on Vera and he smiled brightly.

"Ah, no, I'll have to decline. I can't hold my liquor." Rein chuckled. "I would not be able to tolerate more than a sip or two, I'm sorry to admit, even though I do enjoy the flavor." It was true. Any drink would simply sit in his stomach, though he had no fear of getting drunk, it would be rather unpleasant to have liquor swishing around and even more unpleasant getting the drink out afterwards. It was a sad thing, he was especially fond of the flavor of good wine, and he could savor a sip, but never would he be able to have a glass for himself. He shrugged. "Though, if you want some, please don't let me stop you." He looked across the room to the bar, not minding going over there to see the room from another point. "It's a large room, lots of dancing space." It was an idle thought as he looked around again.

To her surprise Rein was a lightweight? This just seemed so strange as he looked like someone who could hold his liquor....though maybe him being so thin had something to do with that. As some people would say, the Wine would just go right through him. She chuckled to herself as this thought came to mind but shook it off as she turned her attention back to Rein. Walking over to him she leaned on his arm and looked over at the large windows and the light that beamed through them and it made her want to watch the sun continue to set. Tonight had already been very event filled and she wouldn't mind a nice relaxing activity to do with Rein. Looking back at his she smiled and tilted her head in a signal towards the windows, "Shall we go and watch the sun set? It would be a nice thing to end the day with, you know after everything that happened earlier." She laughed and smiled in all the same time, "Besides we can talk more and get to know each other past what is already known."

Vera was interested in everything about him for some reason, but that was good right? Looking over at the bar she shrugged. She didn't feel like a drink right now and probably wouldn't think of drinking till some other special occasion that might come down the road in anew events that were to come. "Nah, I'll be sure to drink later on most likely tomorrow. For now lets just enjoy the sunset."

Post  Rein Wed Aug 03, 2011 10:49 pm

Rein raised an eyebrow as Vera chuckled to herself and vaguely wondered what she found funny about what he said, still, it was cute and he found himself smiling. He left her lean on his arm and turned to watch the sky through the windows with her. He nodded quietly.

"Yes, lets." He glanced down at her quickly with a warm smile and started over towards the far wall, guiding her. The window sills looked big enough to sit on comfortably, and it would grant them a beautiful view effortlessly. He was a bit worried about talking, there was much he couldn't say without revealing his phylactery. He liked her, yes, but he was cautious all the same. "The sunset is beautiful here, it really adds makes this room rather ethereal." The man looked around at the soft glow over the grand marble. It looked like an ancient hall of gods with this light. The tapping of their feet echoed in the silence and it made the ballroom seem just that much bigger around them. His eyes trailed up the wall. The were in the middle of the room now, and Rein's neck was arched as he studied the carvings on the ceiling high above them. Suddenly, there was a loud creaking and the little specks of light on the ceiling danced. With wide eyes, Rein looked to the source: the chandelier was swinging subtly. Being directly below it, he could not see the point where it connected to the ceiling, or how it cracked. All he saw was the massive crystals laughing as the decorative stone gave way and the chain slipped. The weight plummeted with a series of groans and chimes from the dangling pieces, and the massive grand chandelier descended upon them.

No time to think, Rein withdrew an old pocket-watch from his pocket and pulled Vera to him. The hand that held the watch came up to his chest between himself and the woman, while his other arm wrapped around Vera protectively. He used his height to advantage over hers and tried to shield her with his own body. The next thing he knew, pain exploded on his back. He let out a last strangled gasping scream as a great arm of the light fixture landed on the back of his neck, and he more heard then felt the snapping and crunching of his spine and the tear of his skin as bone protruded. Two thoughts happened simultaneously:

'Please, don't let Vera die here.'

and

'Shit, I wonder what time it is?'

Rein hit the ground hard, and he knew no more.

Good things lead to Death Empty Re: Good things lead to Death

Post  Neferure Wed Aug 03, 2011 10:52 pm

All was quiet in the lonely corridor Neferure was meandering through. The evenning was a bit lonely as she admired the aged artwork adorning the walls. This new place was more interesting than where she had lived previously in this second life of hers, even if she only had the one friend she'd arrived with so far.

The quiet thuds of the large lioness paws moving across the floor slowly came to a stop beside one of the windows offering the corridor a muted sort of light, and the princess found her breath catching briefly in her lungs as if the wind had been knocked from her without any visible reason. Pausing to clutch gently at he cloth covering her collar, she breathed deeply to rid her chest of the unpleasant sentation, then with a determined glare began racing down the hall and towards the source of her unease.

One door to the ballroom burst open and the lioness continued without pause towards the unusual scene before her. She hissed quietly under her breath and skidded to a halt as she neared the body of her companion, faintly jostling an arm of the chandelier as she hastily clutched at the metal with both of her hands. Scowling at the mess, she took brief notice of the second form but this stranger was not her immediate concern as was quickly disregarded. Neferure shouldered her weight into the heavy decoration, grasping at the limp body trapped beneath with one front paw. She continued in this manner until she managed enough to roughly wedge the body of Rein from beneath the destruction. Gathering his torso in her arms, she dragged him a couple feet from the wreckage and immediately got to work examining his body's physical damage. It was gruesome and an agravated sigh heaved from her chest as she failed to keep the blood from staining her ivory blouse. Fragments of bone were embedded like shrapnel in the skin around her friend's neck. The weight of the chandelier's arm had shattered those vertebrae and crushed the spinal chord, large torn shapes of flesh dangling and soaked with hot blood, like a popped water balloon.

"Dead.. You obnoxious, careless fool!" The words were muttered angrily under her breath. A silver glimmer caught her eye and she grasped the pocket watch from limp fingers, releasing it from its hold on Rein, and slipping it hastily over her own head. The priceless trinket was tucked to rest hidden beneath her shirt as fingers absently tugged tiny shards of crystal from the boy's skin.

Good things lead to Death Empty Re: Good things lead to Death

Post  Vera Thu Aug 04, 2011 12:36 am

Vera followed close to Rein as they began to make their way over towards the windows for the view. She held tight onto Reins arm and stayed in his comfort as she also admired the structures around them. Everything in this room was so detail and glamorous, she just had not had the chance to admire them like now. Before it was filled with so many people and if anything to busy to be able to notice anything period. The sun shone bright and their shadows filled the room nearly touching the walls that they were walking away from.

As they began to near the opposite side of the room, Vera had also noticed something, though this time through a strange feeling. Looking at Rein she watched as his attention was drawn up towards the chandelier and her expression had matched the one of the man next to her. She didn't know what to do one she saw the pieces of paint flake from around the areas the chains had held the enormous structure, all she knew was that she had to do something. Ready to grab her umbrella and open it, Rein had caught her off guard by grabbing her and pulling her into a tight embrace in which he had no intention of letting go of.

Vera tried to pull away or at least have a free hand but he seemed stronger than her at this point and she looked up at him as he hunched over her in a protective manner. She sighed as she watched the shadows on the walls follow the chandelier down upon them. "Baka...." Was all she could say before they were burred in the large pile of bits and pieces of the chandelier. She felt the weight of Rein and the debris on top of him push her down and she felt a snap in her chest as her ribs suddenly decided to give out and puncture her lungs. Why was she one to have to feel pain? Wasn't being immortal being able to not feel a thing and be fine no matter what? Guess not.

Her eyes flickered as she felt the blood flood her lungs as well as what metal that managed to fly right through Rein penetrate her. Blood trickled out of her mouth and she became silent, but didn't black out. Awake yet looked to be sleeping Vera had only just to lay there. She wondered if it was wrong for her to even touch a human being. Why was she meant to lose everyone....

Good things lead to Death Empty Re: Good things lead to Death

Post  Blake Eston Thu Aug 04, 2011 12:57 am

Blake was wandering the halls now familiarizing himself with the castle more. What use would be a professor who can't even find his own class room from any direction in the castle. Over the time he did walk though he knew where all bathrooms, kitchen, and some classrooms were as well as his own and his room. Stretching as he continued he couldn't help but perk his ears at a strange sound off in the distance. Something big, and he meant BIG fell and made a sound that echoed through the abandoned halls of the castle.

Running through the halls he managed to make it to the ballroom doors where they had been swung open with some force. Looking at the damage to the floor, pillars, and wall that surrounded the chandelier he had his attention brought to the figure of some animal? Human? Huminal? Blake didn't know what to make it out but it was holding something shinny with the figure of what looked to be bodies on the floor. Rushing over he managed to get a glimpse of red that laid under the rubble. His run slowed to a speedy walking pace then to a complete halt. Vera? Is that Vera? Ignoring the other two Blake jumped over the large metal bars and glass shards till he finally reached her body. Blood was trickling out of her mouth and her frame seemed disfigured. "Her ribs..."

Looking over at the strange human animal he picked Vera's frame up, "What happened? What caused this? We need to take them both to the doctors here....." Blake didn't know if she was alive or dead. She had no pulse but it seemed her chest was still trying to move. It made no sense to him. Looking back over to the strange creature once again he sighed, "It doesn't matter what happened they may still be alive, so lets find the doctor." Picking Vera up completely now he ignored the blood that poured over his clothes. He believed he knew where the infirmary was.

Good things lead to Death Empty Re: Good things lead to Death

Post  Rein Thu Aug 04, 2011 1:35 am

Rein's head lolled to the side. His eyes were closed and non-fluttering. His pulse was null and blood flowed freely from the gaping mess that used to be his neck, undeniably dead. His hair had come mostly undone from the pin Vera had used to hold it up, and it was splayed about him, growing slick in the forming pool. As Neferure pulled shards of crystal out of his skin, the cells inside slowly started stitching together again, repairing the innermost damage first at a gradual but diligent pace.

Rein's mind was locked inside his phylactery, hidden away, waiting for the body to be acceptable again. This was like a coma, and he was unaware of any of his surroundings.

It was 9:26pm.

Good things lead to Death Empty Re: Good things lead to Death

Post  Neferure Thu Aug 04, 2011 7:04 am

Neferure didn't look up from her diligent work as another entered and went about retrieving the second body from beneath the chandelier. A look of annoyance flashed across her face when when he spoke and it seemed at first as if she planned on ignoring him. The pool of Rein's blood continued to spread and soak into the fur of her legs and lioness-stomach where she was crouched on the floor above the boy's body. Briefly, golden eyes finally regarded the new comer and she absently felt the silver pocket watch through the cloth of her shirt as if to reassure herself that it was safe.

A quiet 'hmph' left her mouth with a dismissive movement, and she tucked some hair behind one cat ear before bowing her head over her friend again.

"Obviously, the chandelier fell. That is the cause." She hadn't meant to be short or rude with this apparently concerned stranger but Neferure was annoyed already with the situation and the mood was difficult to separate from her words. Her response was delivered without glancing up again. "Take the female to the physician if she is not dead, we will remain."

She had no intention of moving Rein from this place. She couldn't be certain of the time, but it couldn't be terribly long either way. It was her duty to protect this prone form and the trinket now hidden on her person until he came to. Resolved in her decision, the lioness moved forwards, settling down on her stomach again with one large front paw draped possessively over Rein's unmoving chest. The other paw she placed on the floor in the pool of blood and gently lifted the boy's head, which seemed barely attached, resting it on her furry toes like a pillow as if it might be more comfortable for him.

Resigned to waiting, she found her eyes lifting again to see what the stranger would do, taking in the image of both the strangers fully for the first time. Her eyes were narrowed suspiciously though she had no reason to distrust this fair-haired man.

"But the infirmary seems abandoned." It was a fact she had noticed during her exploration. There was unmistakably an infirmary wing on the topmost floor, but it was most definitely unused and rarely frequented by the state of the place. "I do not know where the physician resides." It wasn't very helpful, but she felt it might be fruitless to adventure there, thought the man could do as he pleased. The female looked dead enough at any rate.

Good things lead to Death Empty Re: Good things lead to Death

Post  Blake Eston Thu Aug 04, 2011 10:21 am

Blake had not known the reason for his actions in this certain event. He was usually calm and collected so that he may observe everything around him and in a sense for better understanding. Was it maybe perhaps his panic was because this time he actually knew one of the victim? None the less he felt that any actions he had may have been a little to rushed, he was known for his great patience but he showed it poorly here. Looking at the woman in his arms then the woman who briefly acknowledged his existence he found a sense of confusion. If he had went to the infirmary with Vera and no one there was to be seen, then he would have dragged her body around for no reason. This to him was quite unnecessary and tasteless.

Looking down and observing Vera over and over with every wound she had endured and he knew dragging her about wasn't going to be the best thing. Rubble about his feet made him growl under his breathe and in an instant he kicked the large pieces of metal out of the way and watched as each piece made a great distance about the room before tumbling to a halt across the room. Finally with the area cleared he had a place that was clear to set Vera down. Being gentle he laid her on her back and watched as blood still continued to flow from her mouth and wounds. He waited for one moment as he waited to see if her body was still even able to keep a breathe and for some strange pick of nature it did. Nodding to himself he stood to look over at the woman and the man she had in her arms.

He had many questions about this but he would need to go out and look for help his own self. He would return when he was able to find someone with some sort of medical skills. Funny to think that Blake now wished he hadn't skipped his health classes over the past few years. Why? Cursing under his breathe he sighed and looked to the woman and the man once more and adjusted his ever loose glasses, "If what you say is true then I shall go alone, as it shall be faster and more efficient. I let this whole even run to my head without thinking. So I shall return shortly with anyone I can find with medical assistance. From here your friend looks long gone, but in any case we all shall see eh?" With a quick bow of politeness he turned towards the doors he had came from and left in a quick sprint.

He really needed to find someone and quick for Vera's sake.

Neferure regarded the man mildly from the corner of her eye as he cleared a space for his charge. When he spoke she thought that perhaps he spoke too many words. It was unnecessary. But over all her first impression of thiss man was well enough. In the least, he was caring and did not seem the type to give up easily if his attitude towards this disaster was anything to go by. Even his small effort to reassure her that Rein might not be dead--is that what he was trying to do anyway?--was appreciated even though she knew she had no reason for concern.

The lioness nodded silently in response to his voiced opinon but was unsure if he saw it as he hurried from the room. For the girl's sake Neferure hopped his efforts were successful. Although Rein was her superior concern, it would be sad to see anyone die.

Another impatient sigh passed her lips and fingers began to absently stroke Rein's ridiculous and envious hair.

Good things lead to Death Empty Re: Good things lead to Death

Vera was in a sort of unconscious state but still have the feelings of being held still in mind. She felt every movement of the person who was holding her and when he had finally placed her down she felt the cold floor beneath her. Finally being placed flat let some of her ribs push back out of her lungs so that now they were no longer pierced. Being able to actually take a breathe, though blood still escaped her, she slowly opened her eyes to the sight of the ceiling and all the chipped pieces that were missing from it. Blinking a few times she remembered all that had happened as well as the scream that Rein had given out as he was literally destroyed by the chandelier and all its weight. Was this real? Was Rein really dead?

Sitting up she looked over at the rubble of metal, glass, and the bits and pieces of the ceiling. Slowly her eyes returned to the blurred figure of something holding another figure. Rubbing her eyes she decided to take the shards that managed to penetrate her out. Her vision was already bad enough she didn't need all this blood loss to get to her. Having to take out every piece one by one was easier than she thought, having the ability to feel everything that did not belong in her body. As she plucked these pieces out she looked up and noticed her vision improving and now she could see the figures better. One was a lioness and human of some sort, this perked her curiosity greatly but what made that pass was the sight of Rein and his mangled body in her arms....paws. Covering her mouth as to not yelp out she turned her head to the side and started to tear up.

Why was she so emotional over this one boy? It made no sense, yes her first friend who had died she cried years over but it had became routine. Now this one boy brought back these painful feelings, and she didn't know why. Could they really have connected through that one kiss? Exhaling she felt the pain still present and noticed she still had a few shards left. Looking down at her arms she pulled them out and tossed them to the side. Soon she would begin to heal and Blake would return. She had to hide her secret and make it look as if she was cared for by his return. She began her search for some cloth not caring if the lioness saw her recovery. She seemed like someone she may trust as it seemed she cared for Rein.

With the new position of his head upon Neferure's paw, the skin was closer together and less strained than when his head was rolled to the side. With less distance to cross, the cells connected fast and easier, knitting together as if nothing had ever happened to separate them.

Some distance away, a prone rat lay still. It's life had returned to it's giver, time borrowed up, finding that assisting in the resurrection of it's own body was more important than maintaining a temporary host that was already long gone. Likewise, the closeness of Rein's body to Neferure was enhancing the speed of recovery since the energy the lioness had was, or similar to, that of Rein's own. To someone paying attention from a relatively close distance, it would appear the the wound was now visibly undoing itself.

Around him, the world went on without his notice.

Post  Neferure Thu Aug 04, 2011 8:50 pm

The unexpected movement of the injured female cause Neferure to snap her head up and watch the girl curiously. Realization dawned on her as the girl made work of removing embedded shards left in her from the chandelier. This girl was not unlike the boy still lying unconscious beneath the lioness's protective paw.

She let the quiet linger, and continued to observe. The amount of blood that had leaked from Rein was obscuring the majority of visible healing, but she knew it was happening. There was a tingling in her human fingers and they twitched as an unhappy frown settled into her features. Her stroking movements in Rein's hair slowed as those digits grew slightly stiff and began to darken and wither. Rage erupted behind her gaze as the sight that reminded her of the body she awoken in back at her temple... mummified. A deep breath was heaved to restrain her displeasure and she shut her eyes tightly against the ugly image. It was nothing to dwell on now, they could deal with it soon enough.

When she felt calm again, Neferure lifted her gaze once more to the other female in the room, taking note of her visible emotional state. She probably thought that Rein was dead, as he well should be.

Her chin lifted proudly as she addressed the mysterious girl. "How do you fare?" Although her voice was clear and bold, there was a question in it deeper than curiosity, as if she wasn't entirely sure she really cared to ask after this girl's well-being, but had decided to extend the concern anyway.

The lion tail twitched back and forth and the claws of the paw resting heavily on Rein's chest kneaded very gently at the fabric there, impatiently waiting for the boy to finally rouse.

Vera had finally rid herself of all metal and anything abnormal to her body and its normal functions. Looking for cloth she had only noticed the curtains to the enormous windows and decided that these here would do just fine. Ripping long strands from the she wrapped in around her chest and areas where it looked to be injured. She continued to heal and it pleased her that she was actually doing so so fast. In any rate before she would have healed quite slow but maybe since she was so much more active so was the ability. Having finally finished wrapping her fake wounds she smiled and turned her attention back to the woman that was holding Rein's body. Tilting her head she barely heard the words, but understood them. She nodded slightly then slowly began to approach her. "I guess I fare just fine....I can't way the same for....him."

Looking at his body she thought her mind was playing tricks on her. She thought he was much more worse, but it seemed like his wounds were less severe....or at least less gaping. Steeping closer Vera knelt down next to him and extended her arm out to him, but soon stopped herself and pulled back. There was no way that he could have been healing in the same manner as herself. It was impossible....or was it? Vera stared at the boy and sat quietly for a moment just watching him and studying him ever so closely. Was maybe his belief that she didn't know what she was agreeing to this? If so there was no possible way that is should have mattered, though he also did not know about her ability. Looking up to the woman she smiled, "My name is Vera, and its a please to meet you though it is under these predicaments." With a slight bow of her head she returned to her seated position. "May I ask for your name?"

Neferure continued to regard the girl with curiosity, though it quickly akinned itself to suspicion and distrust as the previously wounded woman approached more closely then the lioness would have liked. A quiet growl rumbled in warning under her breath when the other woman extended a hand as if to touch Rein, and the massivw paw on his chest tensed and drew his body possessively closer. There had been no threat made and existed no known reason to distrust this stranger, but Rein in such a prone state made Neferure feel extremely protective.

"I am Neferure, daughter of the Pharoah Hatshepsut." The line was delivered matter-of-fact, as if the lioness could now expect a certain amount of reverance--although she had sadly come to realize quite some time ago that her name and heritage held little to no meaning in these times and places.

She gazed thoughtfully down at Rein, twisting her continually mangling fingers into his hair. She considered how
much to let this stranger privvy to, her decision influenced by the other girl's own 'resurrection'.

"I can see that you fear for Rein." She fondly stroked his forehead. "You should spare your grief." Her tone had eventually softened to something a bit more understanding. She gazed down at the boy on the floor again. It shouldn't be long now.

By this time, after Vera had wrapped herself and sat beside his body, Rein's vertebrae had realigned. A good amount of skin and muscle had reformed, and while the outer layers were still repairing, the major circulatory paths were no longer letting blood.

...1...

His escaped life fluid was silently evaporating, finding itself again inside the veins where it should always return locked in time. Cells were still dutifully reorganizing the ranks, and there was little enough damage to be sufficient. Most the horror lay in the mess that was left and the rather gruesome outer layers of flesh that had yet to reconnect.

...0...

It was 9:38pm. Rein's eyelids twitched as small wisps of silver electricity sparked from the corners of his eyes. His mind started to filter in and he held back a groan. He hated coming back into his body before everything healed completely. But, it seemed his hour was up, though he had no idea how long he had been dead this time around. He became aware of a weight on his chest and his head resting on something. It was familiar, and he couldn't help the slight smile that pulled on his lips. Neferure was always there when he woke from being injured. He didn't always know how she got there, but she always was. Was she near the ballroom or had she run across the campus?

Rein's eyes shot open. The ballroom; the chandelier. Vera. With a surge of panic, the boy shot up. His shout for Vera turned into a yelp of pain and he hissed as he fell back down, hand grasping at his neck that loudly protested at the sudden movement.

Vera had picked up on the strange body language of Neferure as kept the distance that she had. Listening to her words made her wonder if she was caring for the fact that all would be alright with Rein or if maybe she was in the whatever mood. This idea faded though as she had introduced herself as Neferure, daughter of the Pharaoh Hatshepsut. Listening to her she tilted her head trying to think of the mother she claimed to have and the history behind it. It see,ed like that age was long gone, yet this one was here now. Maybe half lion people lived longer than she thought. Finally it had came to her on who she was talking about and she smiled. "Ah so wasn't she the 18th dynasty Pharaoh?" As she had asked this question she noticed small movement below the lionesses paw and looked down quickly. Thinking her minds had played a trick on her she looked back up and made eye contact with her.

No way Rein was moving, he was literally crushed. Her thoughts stood still and so did her heart as she suddenly saw the figure of the man shoot up and what looked to be a panic mode and Vera fell back on her behind with shock. Did Rein just pop back from the dead? Looking at him as he seemed to be in pain, Vera leaned in and placed her hand on his hand and moved it to his chest where she rested both her hands with his own. She had forgotten the presence of Neferure for a moment as her up most concern was the well being of Rein. Looking up she knew that this woman had known something about the healing state of Rein and all she could do was smile slightly. Looking back down she smiled at Rein and sighed with relief, "You scared the crap out of me Rein....now you must make it up!" She laughed as she was only kidding, but if Rein was willing who was she to deny this?

Good things lead to Death Empty Re: Good things lead to Death

Surprise lit up Neferure's face when Vera recognized the Pharaoh's name. She was pleased and nodded, "Yes, she was one in that time."

Then Rein shot up. And Vera was touching him.

Whatever respect that had been building up towards Vera due to the acknowledgement of Neferure's esteemed family flew out the window as rage flared in her eyes. Rather suddenly, a loud and deep screech-like roar erupted ferociously from her throat. Both of her arms flew around Rein's shoulders, clutching the boy's torso to her chest and tearing him away from Vera. She pounced over to the other side of him to crouch tensely between the two, twisting herself and managing to almost hide Rein entirely from view using the lioness body to shield him.

With her back to Vera now, still hunched over the precious ward cradled possessively in her arms, she peered with narrowed eyes over her shoulder at the girl. The roar had died down quickly into a steady warning snarl which continued to rumble faintly, the furry tip of her tail twitching irritably back and forth.

"Do not... touch him." Her voice was strained and deep with the remnants of the snarling, as if it took great effort to reign in her sudden anger and separate human words from the instinctual voice of the lioness.

Rein's eyes opened when he felt a hand on his. Looking up, he saw Vera over him, apparently fine. She was laughing, at any rate, and he smiled in return.

"Sorry-" He was cut off as he was whisked away by a furious lioness. Rather undignified, Rein found himself dragged slightly and suddenly on the other side of Neferure. His arms had found their way up around her shoulders to hold on tight in return to her hold on him and he tried not to let his neck stretch too much.

"Nef! Ow!" Rein tried to get the woman's attention, deliberately stressing the 'ow' to remind her that he wasn't quite fully healed yet. "Really, it's okay. This is Vera, a new friend of mine, she doesn't know!"

Looking up at the Pharaoh's daughter, Rein held on tightly in case she decided to drop him, but made no move to remove himself from her arms. He didn't see a point, she was protective and he didn't want to insult her. Besides, he was used to this from Neferure and knew that going against her wishes or thoughts on what was best for him would just be trouble.

Vera smile had faded to a look oh shock as the lioness made he point with a loud roar that boomed through the room. It had only seemed so much worse as Vera was literally directly in front of her. The actions that Neferure had taken were what Vera seemed unnecessary and some what rude. Vera only was wondering how the man was and the fact that he was just torn away in such a quick and sudden movement made her ticked off. Standing quickly Vera was still only in view of the lioness's back but she had not planned for this to be the only thing she would see. About to walk around and give the woman a piece of her mind, she was stopped by the voice of Rein. He seemed concerned that Vera was not an enemy just a misunderstanding to Neferure herself.

Listening she had just only had enough patients to see what he meant rather than just make her way to see him forcefully. Watching as Rein had no intent of getting up Vera found a high pile of metal and sat upon it with still the view of her back to her. Sighing she shrugged and faked a smile. "What do you mean I do not know Rein and you Neferure why did you act in such a way? I know he means of great importance, but you must have seen that I meant no harm?" Vera was one who didn't care to start a problem but she would by god finish it. The only thing restraining her at this point was what Rein had said.

Trusting someone, this was something that was quite hard for her to do as everyone ended up hurting her or just leaving in the end. However, this was worth the wait for an outcome.

Good things lead to Death Empty Re: Good things lead to Death

Apologetic concern flashed in her eyes as she peered back down at Rein, and her withered fingertips stroked the closed wound caringly. Her tenseness eased a little but her tone was resolute when she spoke, not wishing to leave room for argument.

"I do not care who it is, no one approaches until you are fully healed." The statement was sufficient to respond to them both.

In Nefere's family it was unwise to ever trust even a good friend with what was most precious. People were quick to be kind and to betray if it suited their needs politically or otherwise. Neferure was no different and it reminded herto always be quietly wary. Besides, friend of Rein's or not, Nef had no reason to treat Vera any differently.

Quietly to Rein, " Are you well?"

Rein rolled his eyes, exasperated by understand, at Neferure.

"Alright, alright. But look, I'm already all back together." Rein turned his neck to let the lioness inspect the sealing skin for herself. The final layers were finally smoothing out into place, and if not for the blood, it was as if it never happened. He pulled his lanky sprawled legs back under himself so that he was more sitting next to Nerferure rather than laying beside her, even though she still had a hold around his shoulders. He could not see Vera past his body guard, but he addressed her all the same.

"Vera, I mean simply that you do not know about what I have done to prevent my own death and therefore do not know how to undo it." He turned his attention back to Neferure. "I assume you have that taken care of, yes?" Rein could feel it close by, she probably had it on herself so he wasn't really worried, he just needed to know if the lioness had it, or if he had to go scrambling through the rubble.

"You know I am quite well, Nef, as always, but only because you take such good care of me." He smiled reassuringly. "Now, may I have your permission to get up, your Highness?"

Vera could do nothing but sit in her place and respect the words of the Neferure as she was the one who seemed to know about Rein more than Vera had thought. Crossing one leg over the other Vera yawned a bit, though not knowing why, she wasn't tired or exhausted since she was healed up. Her last rib had popped back into place nearly ten minuted ago, but still some sort or part of her was tired. Shrugging she hear Rein's voice and smiled as he had explained that she didn't know about his circumstances with undoing his curse of immortality, then again he might have praised this but Vera didn't quite know at this point.

Standing up to stretch a bit she adjusted her mask and then placed herself back on top of the rubble she was seated on before. "Hmm funny you say that Rein, I have no clue how to reverse my own." Figuring since she now knew Rein's little secret of healing then she would give him a little bit of her own info, but not the complete package. Hell why not, its not every day that you see a man who has brought himself back from the brinks of death like he had. Looking off into the distance where the windows were cracked and now covered with dust she watched as the sun had finally disappeared completely. "I wonder who shall clean this all up.....in fact I wonder how this here even happened. Seemed like the chandelier was just fine when we had first came in and now its just all over the ground and every things a mess. How sad."

Looking up she saw the huge gaping hole in the ceiling and sighed before returning her look over to Rein and Neferure.

Rein's question caused an affronted look to sour Neferure's features. "Of course I have it taken care of! Your body comes second!" She clutched the time piece through her shirt fabric to prove its whereabouts and safety, her other arm remaining supporting behind his shoulders.

She pouted grumpily and finally nodded curtly. "Yes, you may rise." She lifted herself to her feet, helping her friend follow suit. As soon as he felt steady enough on his own legs, she stood tall, smiled sweetly, then drew her arm back and smacked him hard across the face. There was a cracking noise as one of her shriveled fingers threatened to break and she swallowed a shriek, cradling the hand to her chest.

"You horrible child, quit scaring me like this! And this!" She motions towards her wounded hands. "You fix this!"

Although the rage was somewhat unnecessary, it was probably expected from her, it was how showed how much she cared. At least that's how Neferure would put it. And despite her shouting, there was nothing but relief in her eyes that her friend was alright.

The pharaoh's daughter had no idea who in the castle took care of messes like this. Let Rein answer his new friend.
