Ludolf sprinted in the direction of the smell to try to get to the intruder first, he really was concerned for the students, and if it was too much for him, then maybe the students could help, but he could at least discourage them... He wanted to keep everyone safe.

His dark fur was starting to spike up as a low growl emanated from his throat. He'd sound like a wild animal to anyone with an untrained ear.
